Blue Moon 1,291
We were out all day and just before we left I had a phone call from someone claiming to be from the Rangers Lottery asking me to join up. I asked her to call me back on Monday. The problem I have is that this is a cold call and I am very wary about signing up to anything based on a cold call. Secondly, I told her I was not giving any money to the club atm but she reassured me that the money goes to the youth set up and they daren't spend it any other way due to legalities. What do you think? Has anyone else had such a call and is this normal practice? Is it right that the money only goes to the youth set up?
BEARGER 1,830
Lots including me have received this call over the last few months. What happens to the money, just think who is in charge!
Blue Moon 1,291
That's what I was thinking. The lady who phoned had a Geordie accent
forlanssister 3,114
This is 100% legitimate. It has proven to be a very, very successful campaign and it will continue for a while yet.

It's impossible for the club to ring-fence the cash to ensure it's spent on youth. There will be an amount that they want to spend on youth (say £1m) and that will not change. The funding from the lottery may be £600K so the club make up the balance. If you stuck in £50K it would just mean that the club would stick in £350K and the saving of £50K will be spent elsewhere, so in effect the additional £50K is spent elsewhere.
