Super Cooper 0
I think that's an overly harsh assessment. He's certainly culpable in many respects, but deserves at least some credit for underwriting the failed share issue and the legacy of facilities the Club has. He also had ambition for our Club. Few would say that about our recent owners... Not enough ambition though, Fergus McCann fair put him in his place with their new redevelopment of C.P. Not keeping up with them there and off the park has cost us so much over the years. And we are still feeling it today. It was all very well throwing tens of millions at Advocaat to win the big one but look how that panned out. £4m was our standard fee for almost everyone.
jhunter 0
He was a Rugby man who knew next to nothing about football. He borrowed and spent his way through 20 odd years in charge. he was a professional gambler and allowed to to do it to the tune of hundreds of millions of pounds i think it was something like 750 Million the debt topped out at utter insanity.

I don't disagree re many of the points you make above, just that it's not a case of him being completely black / white, good / bad. As for the redevelopment of CP, that was a pure volume play: pack the seats in and do it as cheaply as possible. Celtic have got a lot right recently, but not everything they do is high quality by any means.

It didn't have to be high quality though to create that "special" atmosphere, intimidating home arena and bank them £3m every full home match. It was genius from McCann. Pundits love it, players love it, the SFA favour it, kids think because it's the biggest it's the best. As you say, it was volume play. A blinder.
