Frankie 8,562
http://news.stv.tv/west-central/299623-four-men-detained-after-police-probe-into-sale-of-rangers-in-2012/ Four men have been detained by police as part of an investigation into the sale of Rangers Football Club in 2011. Scots police along with officers from three forces in England carried out a number of raids down south before taking the men into police custody. They are being held in Scotland for questioning in connection with the alleged "fraudulent acquisition" of the Ibrox club in 2011. STV understands the men detained are David Grier, Paul Clark, David Whitehouse and Gary Withey. Paul Clark and David Whitehouse, partners at Duff and Phelps, were appointed joint administrators of oldco Rangers before the company went into liquidation in February 2012. David Grier was also a partner at Duff and Phelps, formerly known as MCR. Gary Withey worked for law firm Collier Bristow. The raids took place at a number of addresses on Friday and officers from Thames Valley Police, Cheshire Police and Surrey Police assisted their Scottish counterparts. A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Following a Police Scotland operation on Friday November 14, four men have been detained as part of the ongoing investigation into the alleged fraudulent acquisition of Rangers Football Club in 2011. "Around 6am on Friday Police Scotland officers, assisted by officers from Thames Valley Police, Cheshire Police and Surrey Police attended a number of addresses in England and detained four men." Sir David Murray sold old co Rangers to Craig Whyte for a nominal £1 fee in 2011. Rangers then went into administration on February 14 2012, while Mr Whyte was owner of the club. I'd like to remind people of their legal obligations in speculating over individuals and alleged criminal behaviour. buster. 5,194
Sorry, McLaughlin now saying it's the Whyte purchase which makes more sense to me... Yes, it makes more sense that this would at least come first. Police Scotland were looking at the 2012 purchase of assets aswell but I don't know if they continue to do or not.
