Rangers youngster being tracked by Villa

Aston Villa are tracking Rangers midfielder Lewis MacLeod, reports this evening suggest.

It is thought that Villa boss Paul Lambert sent a scout to watch MacLeod turn out for his club against Alloa Athletic at the weekend.

The 20 year-old is in the Scotland squad for tomorrow's match against England, and could make his international debut at Celtic Park.

He broke through into the Rangers team in 2012, earning a five-year contract with the club. He has since made over 70 first team appearances and has eight goals to his name already this season.

We've a dozen or so players out of contract at the end of the season.

That being the case, there will be no effort made in selling them on. As has happened all too often in the past, their contracts will be run down, and we'll get heeHaw for them.

Clarets enquire after Rangers starlet.

Burnley have enquired about Rangers' talented 20-year-old midfielder Lewis MacLeod, amid speculation he could be sold in January.

Clarets officials have contacted the Glasgow club about MacLeod - who was recently linked with Aston Villa as scouts from English clubs flock to Ibrox to evaluate his potential.

Scotland boss Gordon Strachan handed the Rangers starlet his first senior international call-up this month and speculation is rife that Rangers could cash in on their greatest asset in the January transfer window.

The Ibrox club's finances are still shrouded in uncertainty, despite Newcastle owner Mike Ashley's injection of £2million in an emergency loan a month ago.

Newcastle United could emerge as contenders for MacLeod's signature in the next few weeks with many Rangers supporters expecting to see a number of players move between the clubs in the future.
