Steve1872 4
A club spokeswoman told Press Association Sport that there is no truth in rumours suggesting the Ibrox outfit had made an offer to the Spanish giants for the 28-year-old former Dundee United youth coach. Kenny McDowall is in charge of the Light Blues for the remainder of the season after boss Ally McCoist was placed on garden leave. Cathro is one of the hottest prospects in European coaching despite having not even reached 30. He was spotted by former Scotland manager Craig Levein during his stint as Dundee United boss running coaching classes for youngsters in Tayside and invited to revolutionise the Tannadice youth set-up. He helped unearth Ryan Gauld and played a significant part in the development of a number of other promising players. In 2012, he was appointed assistant manager of Portuguese outfit Rio Ave after Nuno Espirito Santo - who he had met on a Scottish Football Association coaching course - spotted his potential. After the duo guided the side into the Europa League, Santo was offered the head coach role at Valencia, he took the young Scot with him when he made his switch to the Mestalla last summer. https://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/news/football-rangers-deny-cathro-approach-173935182--sow.html

Bearman 9
Please for the love of all the gods don't let these Ian Cathro rumours just be PR spin to introduce Craig Levein! Why not? It would certainly knock another 5000 off the attendance. Edited January 7, 2015 by Bearman
Steve1872 4
EXCLUSIVE: Rangers Line Up Shock Move For Felix Magath JANUARY 7TH, 2015 TALKING BAWS FOOTBALL, RANGERS0 COMMENTS Rangers are lining up a shock Ibrox role for German boss Felix Magath. Talking Baws understands the former Fulham gaffer stayed in a Cumbernauld hotel last weekend with his agent. By Kyran Wallace – @kyrano14 And despite the club’s financial issues, it’s believed the board could be considering Magath as either a direct replacement for Ally McCoist or in a Director of Football role. The latter may look unlikely given Derek Llambias’ arrival as chief executive – but Mike Ashley – who effectively holds power at the club – has been known to favour the role at Newcastle United. Rangers have been without a manager since McCoist was placed on gardening leave in December. And Magath has been out of work since he was sacked as Fulham boss in September, following just four wins from 20 games in charge at Craven Cottage. His unconventional methods may appeal to Rangers supporters disillusioned with some of the performances from their team this season. At one point during his spell at Fulham, Magath is believed to have told defender Brede Hangeland to treat an injury with cheese. And fans may be excited at a possible role for Magath given his impressive record in Germany with Stuttgart, Bayern Munich, Wolfsburg and Schalke 04 among others. But any move for Magath may be put on hold while the club solves its off-field issues. The Ibrox board this week rejected an £18million bid from American businessman Robert Sarver, claiming it undervalued the club. And Kenny McDowall has so far been told he is in charge of the first team until the end of the season as he chases promotion to the Scottish Premiership. We understand former Rangers director of communications Jim Traynor was also at the hotel on the same morning as Magath but we have been unable to confirm whether his presence was related to the German. http://www.talkingbaws.com/2015/01/07/rangers-line-up-shock-move-for-felix-magath/
