MARIUS ZALIUKAS Out For A Few Weeks

Recommended Posts

MARIUS ZALIUKAS faces ‘a few weeks’ on the sidelines as a result of the knee injury he suffered a fortnight ago at Livingston, according to Rangers manager Ally McCoist.

The Lithuanian defender was replaced at half-time against the Lions by Darren McGregor after hurting himself in the early stages of the 1-0 win.

Zaliukas had been due to join his national side for their European Championship qualifying fixtures against Estonia and Slovenia.

Although he did travel over to meet up with the group, he was assessed by medics and consequently left out of the two matches.

The 30-year-old is now back at Murray Park and is receiving treatment as Gers look to limit how long the former Hearts skipper is missing.

While Zaliukas drops out of the squad for tomorrow’s home meeting with Raith Rovers, Kenny Miller comes back in following a calf injury.

He last played in the 4-2 win over Queen of the South on August 30, a match in which he scored the clinching goal.

Bilel Mohsni remains out as he continues his three-match suspension for his part in an altercation after Rangers’ goal in their 3-1 loss to Hibernian last month.

Cammy Bell is also still sidelined with a long-term shoulder injury. He should have his sling taken off the week after next as he steps up his recovery.

Manager McCoist said: “Kenny’s back but Bilel’s suspended and Marius is injured. He got that one in Livingston.

“He went over to Lithuania and was scanned and he’s certainly going to be out for a few weeks.

“Cammy is out for the longer term so we’ll be very much roughly along the lines of how we finished against Livingston.

“Obviously we’ve got the option of Kenny coming back in as well and he is a big player for us.”
