der Berliner 3,743
There are hurdles preventing him doing so at present but hopefully that will be the positive outcome in all of this. We urgently need investment and Ashley can provide that. The current financial structure with multi-ownership set up by CG simply doesnt work. We can see that.We need a single owner able to call the shots. It is the only feasible way forward And while it is hardly ideal, we simply need such a fall-back person these days (be it King or Ashley), as we have no bank et al who can keep us going, while we wait on moe income from other external or football related sources or funding. What is this 10% clause that is being spoken of? Why is he limited to this again?
Waltersgotstyle 307
How much has Ashley invested into Newcastle United? We don't really need a big investment (in the long term) - we just need someone who can run us in a way where we can live within our means and right now we do not have that.

Of course we need "a big investment", we're not 2 months into the season and need £4m just to keep the lights on, we'll probably need £10m just to see the season out.
Super Cooper 0
If Ashley comes, will he bring Pardew with him? It would be an improvement, barely measurable but still an improvement. More likely get Joe Kinnear. Again, still an improvement but no thanks.

I agree about living within our means, but without investment that isn't possible at the minute. A warning to the LSE that bills won't be paid if an emergency share issue isn't a success is kind of telling.

I believe it's an SFA rule regarding dual ownership.
Rangersitis 0
Not sure mate or how accurate this is but my from London who is actually a Mackem says Newcastle are one of only 3 EPL clubs who live within theirs means. Cheers, I will have a look after. Still doesn't answer the investment question, but I expect Rab will clear that one up.
Waltersgotstyle 307
Of course we need "a big investment", we're not 2 months into the season and need £4m just to keep the lights on, we'll probably need £10m just to see the season out. That is why I said in the "long term", Rangers as a club should not be seen as financial black hole as if someone like Ashley was to make a relatively small investment now (in footballing terms - I mean Arsenal just spent £14m on Wellbeck...) he should be able to stabilize the club and have us running within our means.
