Everyone who continues to fund those in charge. Although they have the right to do so, they must accept that their ongoing support provides the board/investors with a legitimacy to do as they see fit.

As I said in the over thread, I think the lad is a decent keeper but unless Bell is out for several months there's no need to sign him - even on a few hundred pounds a week.

What I would want to know is what we are paying him, and what we were offering Gallacher who we let go and Alexander got him snapped up at Hearts. We are talking about a third choice keeper, unless Simmo is released before the end of the week, which isn't going to happen with Bell out.

 

The signing makes absolutely no sense at all, either on a squad, financial, or priority basis, and sadly gives more easy ammunition to those who point towards our board and management and cry "useless".

Something has to give. We cant afford 3 experienced goalkeepers in the second tier of Scottish football, especially with our running costs and reduced income. We also have another good young keeper in Kelly who now has absolutely no chance of even being involved in the first team squad and will most likely be punted out on loan.

It will be a real blessing in disguise the day the board run out of money. We only have two home games between september and october, couple that with the falling attendances and you soon realise that there are perilous times ahead.

 

There's 3 cup fixtures penciled in for September & October, but only one of them is a weekend game, the Petrofac Training Cup SF on Sunday 12 October (if we beat East Fife in the away game which has just been postponed), but even assuming we get through to that fixture on 12 October, there's no guarantee of it being a home tie.

 

So aye, 2 home games in 2 months is going to damage the Club's financial situation even further and we don't have Hearts & Hibs back at Ibrox in the league until January & February.

 

Worrying times unless some significant investment is brought in to plug the hole.

I am absolutely dumbfounded by this move unless as has been suggested: Bell's injury is more serious that we are being told, but even then we have Simonsen and Kelly; or either he or Simonsen are about to be transferred, which seems equally unlikely and even then we would have Kelly as second choice.

 

Re-signing Simonsen may have been a good idea with the benefit of hindsight but what of Gallacher?

 

In reality we should have had Bell, Gallacher and Kelly; would Gallacher have been more expensive than Simonsen, I doubt it.

Bell wouldn't pass a medical if he's injured though, so it's unlikely we'll see him leaving before this transfer window closes unless he miraculously recovers only a few days after we've signed Robinson or an interested club are willing to take him on the basis that it's not a serious injury.

So your assessment is that Bell has a long term injury and either Kelly is not considered good enough to sit on the bench or won't be given a place on the bench because he won't sign a new contract; or that Simonsen is not considered good enough to be first choice (in which case why sign him and let Gallacher go?)

 

Baffling, utterly baffling.
