If you had a pile of money to invest, would you invest it in Rangers while this board holds sway?

A quick examination of the club would show a massive drop in season ticket sales, significant disillusionment within the fanbase, a dreadful product on the pitch, over-generous salaries being paid given our circumstances, and millions of pounds having been spent since the last, very recent, share issue.

What about the long-term view? Will there actually be a long-term?

The club seems unable to pay its way in the world now, and the current board has presided over a period where cynicism and pessimism have become the norm.

A share issue might interest asset strippers but fans are fed up parting with money which never seems to reach the areas where it is really needed.

A man with money is waiting in the wings - so we are led to believe - and yet Rangers has the begging bowl out once again.

This institution, this former great club, is sick and dying, and no-one is looking hard enough for the cure.

Assuming that they're trying to punt shares for 25p each or possibly even as low as 20p each to get investors interested, then to raise just 4 million quid would require them to issue anywhere between 16 & 20 million shares.

You have to wonder what the investors whose shareholdings have cost them an average of 35p to 40p per share are going to be saying if a certain shareholder is able to buy 20% of the company for 4 million quid while diluting the holdings of everyone else by 20%.

Looks like the £5m button isn't as easy to press as they think...

Aye, it reads as though the statement release is a slightly desperate and poor attempt to smoke someone out who's willing to give them £4m to burn.

That said, if someone with £4m to burn fancies having 20% of Rangers, then it's a good opportunity.

We just need to hope it goes to an ally of the Club and not back round the revolving cash wheel to Green & co or one of their chums.

I assume - despite the BBC's obvious negative slant on the matter - that the board wants to bridge the gap in ST sales, hoping that the pay at the gate figures bring crowds up to last year's figures. Keeping this issue as low as it is could mean, as Frankie suggests, that they spare themselves the cost of a prospectus and the chance of another issue if one is needed early next year. Such kind of action was always in the pipeline since the AGM, so nothing we haven't discussed before.

It remains to be seen whether the company will be granted a "real" share issue for all people interested later on, including the quiet man in shadows.

:ost:.....:merlin2:

Sparing the cost of a prospectus also has the extremely nice side effect of not being able to hold the board and its advisors to account for the content of said prospectus.

Massive case involving the RBS Rights Issue going through the courts at the moment.

As for "the quite man in the shadows" they could have simply got him to underwrite a rights issue and presented it as a fait accompli but that assumes that the CEO is actually in control of events and that the interests of all shareholders are aligned.

Also the limited nature of what's being proposed sidesteps the elephant in the room regarding the share options that Charles Green and Craig Mather (and God knows who else) are contractually entitled to, whether Wallace has taken any of his 100% bonus in shares should become clear next month.

Are we not running at a quarter of a million pounds loss every month. E5m may just get us over the line for this season and then the begging bowl will be out again in 10 months time. I do wonder at times just how hard it is to run our club properly.

You could cut E5m off our staff/player wage bill and still have the 2nd highest wage bill in the country. Frighening.

That £5m is actually £2.5m once the 5m€ is converted to Sterling and the outstanding loans are repaid.
