The Real PapaBear 0
did we ever find out the circumstances that lead to the mistake coming to light? i.e did Timmy get a heads up from UEFA and lodge a complaint or was this something UEFA found out by themselves?
Super Cooper 0
People were saying in order for Uefa to investigate and take action there had to be a complaint made by the victim. Not sure how accurate that is. Someone posted a pic of the ruling on twitter.

Not sure how accurate that is. Someone posted a pic of the ruling on twitter. That is the rule for an ineligible player as opposed to a suspended player. The UEFA match delegate, Paul Krahenbuhl, found the discrepancy on the Thursday afternoon.
blueflag 386
Yup only ineligible players need a 'protest' by the opposing team a suspended player was an automatic match forfeit. Stinks to high heaven but done by there book

Rangersitis 0
yet Debrecen got away with a small fine when they did it? That player wasn't suspended, his name was omitted from the matchday squad list.
blueflag 386
yet Debrecen got away with a small fine when they did it? They didn't play a suspended player Hard work this thread
Zappa 0
I think the critical point though, is that while the ruling is technically correct, the punishment in this case doesn't fit the crime or come even remotely close to fitting the crime. Legia completely battered both St Pats & Celtic a total of 12-2 aggregate over 4 legs, 6-1 against both clubs. They should not be put out of the competition for a minor clerical or administrative error. It's a disgrace to the game.
The Real PapaBear 0
They didn't play a suspended player Hard work this thread ok, he was 'ineligible' not 'suspended' - what's the difference? In both cases the player was 'ineligble' to play.

This already been answered very clearly in the thread already. Zappa I totally agree it's total rotten and stinks of shite but we can always just hope they get fucked now by Maribor as I don't think CAS will overturn this either
