craig 5,199
I have a contact within the youth side at Murray Park and whilst the above happens amongst parents ("my son attends training all the time but that kid gets more game time even though he doesn't always come to training") type comments happen - from what I have heard the coaches pick what they believe is the best team to get the desired result. The coaches, from what I am aware, decide which kids will "play up" an age group and not the parents. I do know that some parents are OTT in terms of demands, but mostly the coaches just get on with the task at hand.
williamh 0
It happens at all levels of junior football ,having raised four boys and they all loved there football, from parks pitches to gers youths and so on. There are always parents with tinted specs who think that there son is a class above everyone. Then we wonder why some players so young seem to have attitude problems.
Ser Barristan Selmy 222
What sort of football do these young youths play? Do they attempt to follow the style that they see on TV and practice fancy flicks and what not or has all the adventure been coached out of them by that stage?

A lot of the teams at younger age groups u10's - u13 play some fantastic football. Believe me it is more entertaining than the big team, by miles.. Different teams have different philosophies. Rangers teams at these age groups last few years were probably the best. Good mix of strength and also some skillful wee lads as well. Celtic played to "win " every game. If they were under any pressure they piled on their strongest lads. Most teams appeared to give most o the lads equal time. Dundee unt teams were never the best in terms of results but played a quick pass and move style. Cant argue with their record of developing quality first teamers. My lads ex team ( good god don't ask!!), really pushed for techically gifted players. They taught the moves a lot, encouraging them to use them in games. The idea being all players whether in defence or mid or attack should be two footed, good touch and control and be able to beat a man anywhere in the park. They have been bringing through a fair few quality players in recent years as well. New manager last year instructed scouts to look for a different type of player, hence more of the new intakes look more athletic, physical types!,!! That' s the Walter influence seeping through haha.. I would say that the teams that have a good record developing youth players tended to not give a shit about the results as their focus was developing individuals to be good enough to make it..

I have watched the Rangers U10's and U11's this season and they have some very talented kids in those teams. Kids who, for their age, make very, very wise decisions beyond their age. The style for Rangers is pass and move for the most part - take a touch, move the ball on. If you haven't had the chance, get along and see them. They really are a joy to watch SBS. A couple of players in particular in the RFC youths at those age groups look destined for big things (I also watched the U13's train and they have a talented bunch too). It isn't about the results with RFC - they are about the development of the players at the younger age groups - though they obviously do keep track of their results as it is also an indicator of how you are doing against your peers. But in the games I watched they played Dundee Utd at U11 back in October - in both games (different teams at same time) Rangers won one game 12-0 and the other 8-0. Utd couldn't get out their own half. That same group of players beat Celtic in all 4 games when they played each other last season too..... the results had such an impact that CFC had a "crisis meeting" on the Monday morning.....

Good to know that Gersnet has a Rangers Youth Coach as administrator and can tell all the fans every plus point, Is it not supposed to be independent site? Looks all great then by sounds of your post
