the gunslinger 3,366
No, players like Numan, Ferguson, Amoruso, McCann and Caniggia left and were replaced by players like Capucho, Emerson and Ostenstad. All foreign.
Ser Barristan Selmy 222
All foreign. All very poor players when they came to us. Their nationality is irrelevant. We also signed Rae that summer who was useless.
the gunslinger 3,366
I stand by my assertion and one year of success with almost all foreigners won't change my mind. We have won more than 50 titles. One is a statistical anomaly
Ser Barristan Selmy 222
98/99 and 99/00 too. Most of the team in 04/05 was foreign as well.

Ser Barristan Selmy 222
sure if you spend a hundred million more than the opposition on players nationality is less vital. We still spend far more than anyone in Scotland out with Celtic. Who did we have in 04/05 that cost huge amounts of money? Most of the foreigners were bosmans or signed on low fees. Granted some were on high wages but we also had the likes of Novo and Andrews on low wages who made invaluable contributions. The nationality is entirely irrelevant, what matters is skill, performance, tactics, organisation etc. Given how poor Scottish players are, we are best focusing elsewhere and also trying to develop our own talent.
Gribz 954
All big clubs have to win. I don't see what catch 22 situation we were in. A club of our size winning the lower leagues in Scotland is about as big a challenge as Carl Froch having to fight against a 5 year old. It was a catch22. We started Division 3 with a squad of 6 first teamers. So it was either player the U21's or sign players with experience.

Those who pedaled the 6 players line forget to mention many were on extended leave some due to international duty! I am sure we started the season with almost 10 full internationals in our team and only 1 new signing!
der Berliner 3,867
The 6 first team players stuff after admin can be verified easily enough, Rangers FC season 2012/13 stats. And you have to take into account that Perry, Hutton, and Hegarty were no better than peripheral first team squad players at the end of the previous season. Essentially, McCoist refers to Alexander, Wallace, Faure, McCulloch, and Little, with the other one being from list of three above.

You should check the date Faure signed for Rangers.
