Ser Barristan Selmy 222
Something doesn't seem right when a country like ours which hasn't qualified for a finals for sixteen years now seems more concerned with another country which always qualifies for finals. If Scotland fail to qualify for Euro 2016 will it's followers finally wake up and realise the SFA isn't run for their national side but to look after the interests of one club in particular judging by the amount of representation it's has in the football governing bodies in this country Something isn't right with England either. A football obsessed nation with 53m population who haven't caused a threat at a big tournament in so many years. They are barely even a force anymore. Their squad is dire compared to the other big nations. England are just as big a failure as Scotland, if not even bigger. 10 times the population and they get nowhere. It's quite telling that so few clubs abroad ever have any interest in English players. Barely a single one plays abroad. Why is that? Because they are overpaid and under skilled.

Very true but English players don't need to play abroad as the EPL is the richest league in the world

the wasp 0
Costa Rica win 1-0 against Italy. England out. Italy and Uraquay in tie breaker next. England really are woeful, most overrated nation in professional sports. The reason they keep getting to the world cup,and the Euros IMO, is that they always get the easiest of draws to qualify. On the other hand,as bad as Scotland have been over the last decade or so,they always have had the most difficult qualifying section to go through. Anyway as much as The tartan army, and The flower of Scotland make me cringe,I believe we finally have the right manager in place to take us to the 2016 Euros. Laugh if you like, but I am pretty confident we will make it.

Italy didn't look great against England, its was Englands poor defence that cost them. Id back Uruguay to beat them if Suarez plays again.
Ser Barristan Selmy 222
In fairness Italy haven't had a squad befitting of their ability for 8 years now but it didn't stop them getting to the final of the Euros. I wouldn't write them off but I'd rather see Uruguay go through because they play better football and Suarez is the best player in the world after Messi and Ronaldo (perhaps after Iniesta too)

Italy, France and Spain all have similar populations (give or take a few million) yet they can do it on the world stage, in Italys case 4 time. And then Uruguay can produce a team with a population of around 3 million. Its a team game and England have constantly played to accommodate players who only do it in the premier league. Don't get me wrong I love the premier league for entertainment but standard wise its nowhere near the best in the world like people like Paul Merson says on a weekly basis.

The Premiership is lacking on all fronts. For a while the argument was they had the strongest top four, that was perhaps valid for a period but La Liga has proven vastly superior on that front now, plus I'd easily take Bayern and BVB over any team in England. Then you have the argument that the premiership has the best general standard. Well, wrong again, out with the top 5 or 6 the Premiership is atrocious to be honest. Teams like West Ham and Stoke are absolutely dire. Really tragically unwatchable and playing 19th century football. I think the fact that the Europa League gets dominated by La Liga sides speaks volumes.
