Doing so beforehand (on a long term rental basis anyway) would undermine our ability to negotiate a good deal.

Which begs the question as to why Ahmad & Green thought it was prudent to sign a 5 year deal with SD/Puma....
buster. 5,257
I'd imagine it's been looked at a few times but it won't happen until we're in European football again. I think you have to consider that many companies may consider Rangers a brand that is currently to be avoided because of the ongoing soap opera (which includes financial risk, a contingent liability on Ibrox and the spectre of S&LB that doesn't seem to go away).
Tannochsidebear 2,429
I have always approved of this naming rights nonsense as easy money. Obviously I would want the product to be a respectable world-wide brand, but no Rangers fan is ever going to start calling the stadium anything other than Ibrox Stadium. All it does is get the brand some great advertising as every mention of our home games gets them a mention and some free advertising, be it in the papers or on tv. I still call Livingston Almondvale, Man City the CofM stadium, Falkirk New Brockville etc, so most punters dont really move on with it anyway I would suggest. I do the same with the league and cup sponsors. The English league is the English Premiership, our cup is the Scottish Cup, Scottish League Cup etc. I have never used any of the sponsors names when discussing the cup or leagues. So take the money if we can get a good deal. Unfortunately this board have shown with the strips that they dont appear capable of getting a good deal The 32Red or whatever it was deal for our shirts for 14-15 is not a good deal I am told. It is comparable with the Blackthorn deal, which was practically a giveaway as the board of that time couldnt get anybody else to take it and we went back to John Gilligan to get us something so as to not be embarrassed with nothing. I hear it was £750K, which is the same as 32Red.

Either way, it wouldn't really surprise me if the 32Red deal was actually hooked up by someone at Green & co's choice of nominated adviser, Daniel Stewart & co as opposed to something Wallace or any of the other stooges lined up, although you never know.
Zappa 0
Tannochsidebear, it was an article by Roddy Forsyth in the Telegraph that forlanssister posted which had us discussing the £600k figure previously..... There was a commercial uptick at Ibrox this week, with the announcement of shirt sponsorship by online casino operators 32Red worth, as the Telegraph revealed, £600,000 per annum over two years with an option on a third year. That's a quote from near the bottom of this article - Old Firm imbalance leaves Scots envious at Premier League's thrilling run-in
Ser Barristan Selmy 222
The idea of renaming our stadium is something I would only ever entertain if large amounts of cash were involved and that is never going to happen.

the gunslinger 3,366
people say no one would call it anything other than ibrox but whole generations could grow up never calling it ibrox in reality.
