What a dreadfully ignorant post. There is just so much more to it than that. Never mind the fact 7, yes 7, of our best kids have been punted out in the last few hours who would have played in that match. Then there is our inexperienced pal of Allys who they call a manager.........

Also, look at the team from last night

Robinson, Faure, Gibson, Gasparotto, Halkett, Hutton, Aird, Murdoch, McAusland, Walsh, Ramsay.

Half of that team deemed not good enough for the first team in the lower leagues. I don't see a left back, i don't even see a left footer. I do see 5 centre backs though and hear the keeper threw one in as well.

What do people expect with management like that? 5 centre backs in a developmental team. What is it we are developing here?

Actually 3 of them did play; Walsh, Gasparotto and Halket. There were also four young guys from the first team squad; Faure, Aird, Andy Murdoch and Hutton.

Another defeat for our u20s last night....

But yeah we should have built the team around youngsters...

They lost to a club which promotes it's younger talent into the first team - their starting line-up on Saturday, in the higher division, averaged a full three years less than McCoist's side against QOS.

The motivation to succeed goes a long, long way when there is a carrot dangled.

Surely they lost though mate? A young side, in the top tier. Will never work.

Development is not ultimately about results but preparing players for first team football. If the standard being presented to McCoist is so poor for the level we were at he should have been leading a clear out of the youth system. I suspect the biggest problem is his inability to develop and nurture players, although I'm sure the youth setup could be improved...

They did lose, but I haven't seen anyone suggesting that a full team of twenty year olds are introduced in the first year of the top league. The development should have begun in the bottom tier and been tweaked as things progressed. Nothing will change now.

I take it that the summer window is now closed and thus can be this thread. All this youth debate is fine, but could be done in a more relevant thread. Else people might think that McCoist is already active for the January market, before ending up with youth and loanee talk.
