We needed 11+ players to get us out of the 4th tier. We got half a dozen new faces and blooded 19 youngsters during that season. Only a handful proved to be good enough even for that level, either with regards to ability or mentality. One may blame the manager all day long here, fact is that 80% of these players - young and old - did not even reach the levels they were capable of, at least not consistently. And that's not solely to do with the manager either.

As for McCoist being asked about Telfer leaving: as with any other transfer, what we want is or may not exactly in line with what Telfer (and his agent/parents/family) want. We will have to wait and see whether he gets his chance at Tannadice and flourishes.

We didn't need to be throwing away the money on wages that we were and still are and it would be nice to know if Telfer wanted to stay, did Ally want him?

Can you imagine SAF ever having had a talented 18 year old and the club forgetting to offer him a new contract. I know new contracts isn't just down to management but Ally should know everything about the players at his disposal and should be planning the future for all of them. He should know the contractual length of every single player at the club so he can build for the future and make sure our decent players are tied down.

We are being run as a diddy club at all levels from the board to management and everything in between. Wallace and McCoist plus a load of other people should have known when Telfer's contract was expiring. Clueless.

Maybe they need to make a Football Manager style reminder when contracts are 12 months and 6 months away from expiry...It's such a simple level we are operating at. We are being run by clowns.

as much as he is a talented kid , there is as much frustration about this being where we are as opposed to him going , if this was a few years ago with a better standard of player in the club no one would have blinked an eye over him leaving

Agreed. I think it's our existing options that are making people so frustrated.

Apparently Kyle Hutton has just signed a year's extension as well. Hardly exciting news!

Maybe they've just 'forgotten' about Scott Allan then.....
