Scottish Cup Quarter Final!

Rangers marketing blunder advertises quarter-final clash against the WRONG Albion

THE Rangers' marketing team were left red faced after wrongly advertising Stirling Albion instead of Albion Rovers as their opponents for next month's Scottish Cup tie at Ibrox.

THEY may be Bluenoses - but Rangers’ marketing team were left with red faces after an ad campaign to promote their Scottish Cup quarter-final tie listed the WRONG opponents.

The Ibrox club were trying to drum up interest in their clash with Albion Rovers on March 9, with a stirring message to their supporters.

But the advert, which reads ‘Every Tackle, Every Battle, Every Shot, Every Roar, Every Matchday, Only At Ibrox’ told punters that Gers would face Stirling Albion, instead of Rovers.

The Coatbridge club brushed off the mistake, which was shown nationwide, and gaffer James Ward said: “I’m sure that Ally McCoist knows that it’s Albion Rovers who are turning up and not Stirling Albion.

“It’s our first Scottish Cup quarter-final in 80 years - so we’ll be there.”

Nothing could be calculated to give Albion a greater boost than this insult; because a blunder from our side is an insult to them, make no mistake.

I can only say again whoever issued or signed off on this advert must be sacked.

Talk about being hoisted on your own petard. No wonder there was so little support for Rangers in our time of need. I guess some people have long memories. Look at the teams that assisted the Rovers to survive and who were also in the vanguard opposing our league reconstruction proposals.
