Super Cooper 0
Remember McCoists quote, quality not quantity and Durrants, we won't do what PLG done and bring in any random players. Neither stuck to their word.
Zappa 0
Can the Under 20s not play a few over aged players? Yes, but I doubt if Alan Smith would be kept on for that purpose when Simonsen has been getting games for the U20 team. Since about October, if Simonsen hasn't played, it's been Liam Kelly (who turned 19 on Thursday) in goals for the U20 team. Then of course, there's Scott Gallacher as well who was in goal last time out for the U20 team against Ross County. Strange situation we have at the moment with keepers, especially hearing that the likes of Simonsen has been playing a string of games for the U20 team leaving young lads like Liam Kelly and Alan Smith out of the picture.
Super Cooper 0
That is outrageous if Simonsen has been playing for the Under 20s at the expense of actual kids.
Calgacus 8
It tends to suggest that youth development is not taken very seriously by the management.

Alternatively, they would have known that Bell was about to become a father & therefore miss a game (or 2). Therefore probably giving Simonsen some game time in order to cover for Bell.
der Berliner 3,744
That is outrageous if Simonsen has been playing for the Under 20s at the expense of actual kids. Yes. Of course. Nothing to do with giving Simonsen the odd game or two to keep him match fit, no no. We should keep our heads screwed in here: the main thing is the first team and its players. They have to be up to scratch (whatever that means quality-wise is another matter) and the management will see that this is the case. Haven't checked all the u20s and reserve games, if any ... and does not know how many games Simonsen has actually "robbed" from youth development ...
Zappa 0
That is outrageous if Simonsen has been playing for the Under 20s at the expense of actual kids. He's played 4 full matches for the U20 team which left the likes of Liam Kelly sitting spectating. I can understand the need to give Simonsen and other 1st team players some game time, but what happened to bounce games?

I can understand the need to give Simonsen and other 1st team players some game time, but what happened to bounce games? I'd actually ask Wallace to look down south (Championship and below) and invite teams that are not in any cup or meaningful championship/relegation race to come up for a friendly. To get all our first team players a game, test a few talents and prepare them for the tougher challenges ahead.

Therefore probably giving Simonsen some game time in order to cover for Bell. We signed Simonsen in mid September and he played a full match for the U20 just two or three weeks later then another couple of full games in November and one in December, so it would look as though he's been getting some games for the U20 team just to get some games and a bit of match sharpness in general rather than it having anything in particular to do with Cammy Bell becoming a father. The basic issue is that with a smaller 1st team squad than we had in the SPL and the introduction of the new U20 league it was decided that we wouldn't play in the Reserve League and that our U19 team would become our U20 team. Most of the Premiership clubs took the same approach, so the new U20 league has significantly changed things. Celtic are actually the only Premiership club which is currently playing in both the U19 and U20 leagues while no Premiership clubs at all are still playing in the Reserve League.
