In reality, Wallace didn't even have the bollocks to speak to the players in person. He and Ally got Jig to go and ask them. If I was one of those players, that simple fact alone - that Wallace didn't ask them to take a pay cut himself - would have instantly lowered my impression of the new CEO.

If it's more an idea being mooted rather than asked then I don't think it's vital he gathered the squad around to talk to him to be honest, and i'm going to assume he's a busy man looking at several things right now to sort the finances

If he's too busy to speak to the players in person about the idea of taking pay cuts, then he's not the right man for the job.

5 or 10 minutes out to talk to the people he is looking to directly affect wouldn't have affected any busy schedule, Zappa is right, doesn't show Wallace in a good light at all. The actions of a coward.

I think it's looking for fault a little too easily, i'd rather see the job he does over time as CEO and getting the costs down. There's a few things McCoist does and says i'd argue are cowardly but end of the day I just want to judge him as a football manager.

I'm not suggesting too busy as such but more that he didn't feel he had to.

Well if that were the case, then maybe if he had felt that he should speak to them in person their reaction to the suggestion of pay cuts might have been different.

Wallace's failure to speak direct to the players displays a serious lack of leadership. If you are asking the players to consider a significant wage reduction, that is not something that you should put forward in isolation. He has an obligation to share and explain other elements of any cost cutting programme. Hardly surprising that response from the players was negative.

I disagree, i think it says a lot about the man. We needed a CEO with balls, a CEO to take charge and get things done, passing the buck is not something i want our CEO doing.

I have to agree this was not a job for a foot soldier, he should have had the guts to face them himself or at least someone from the management team. ( I don't necessarily mean Ally although he is a candidate)

I am not even convinced a Durrant or McDowall would have done. It should have been Ally and Wallace, no one else.
