chilledbear 16
Mitchell didn't join us until he was 18, he was at Manchester City as a youth and released by them. We were his 'elsewhere'. I think the fact Annan want to keep him tells us what his level is. Good luck to him but it wouldn't have made sense to offer him a new contract. Cheers for that amms. It was more a view on youngsters in general than Mitchell in particular.
Crimson Dynamo 128
I don't understand our Youth Policy at all We seem to do anything but use our youngsters and it seems to me that we only use our young players when we are forced i.e. through injury or the likes

RANGERRAB 4,013
Youth policy? Do we have one? We certainly spend bucket loads of money on it at MP. Whether that is money well spent or not is something Graham Wallace will no doubt be looking at as part of his 120 day business review.
The Real PapaBear 0
I think I'm right in saying that we have 5 goalkeepers now, maybe we'll start a trend and play one of them in the outfield? Don't. Not even in jest. have you thought about what happens if Ally reads Gersnet?
RANGERRAB 4,013
Don't. Not even in jest. have you thought about what happens if Ally reads Gersnet? Well we have got 55 players on the books(was56 butAndy Mitchell has left) and that makes 5 teams so do we not need 5 goalkeepers !!!!! Seriously how over-staffed are we? Why do we need so many players ? All we are at the end of the day is a first XI.

Seriously how over-staffed are we? Why do we need so many players ? All we are at the end of the day is a first XI. Because ... ahem ... 3 of those goalies you list play in our youth team's games and are what, 16 to 17 years old? Gallagher is to be Bell's deputy and successor in years to come, but before Ally views him as a straight replacement he wanted him to have more competitive games? No matter whether he played blinders before Bell became available. Simonsen will be gone in the summer and that leaves us with two senior goalkeepers and half a handful of youngsters playing youth football. 25 or more of those 55 you mention are youngsters too, playing youth footie at u18s or u20s level. Breeding talent is the always the cry. How shall we do that if we only employ a senior squad? I actually wonder what sort of wages the youngsters take up each week.
