Juancornetto 1
Comparing goals scored and results over a season is all well and good but it doesn't address the crux of the matter. Rangers went into Div 3 with a playing squad and wage budget more than 10 times that of the biggest spenders and more than the entire 2nd and 3rd divisions wage budget put together. Of course we couldn't have just discarded the players we were left with but post TUPE all of them should have been on the market and as many as possible moved on, loaned out or asked to take wage cuts We could have picked up a few more youngsters to add to the current crop. The best performers were the youngsters, Aird, McKay, McLeod, Hegarty and co were the only real highlights of a turgid first season in the lower leagues. It's not a Utopian ideal to have wanted Rangers to grasp the nettle and build a squad and a football philosophy to be proud of. We've been using a sherman tank to crack a nut never mind a sledgehammer.
