Ally McCoist: I'm not worried about being forced to sell stars

McCOIST will meet with chief executive Graham Wallace on Monday to discuss cost-cutting at Ibrox and is braced for orders to reduce his first-team wage bill of £6m.

ALLY McCOIST isn’t worried he’ll be forced to sell his Rangers stars this month to ease cash problems.

The Ibrox boss will meet chief executive Graham Wallace on Monday to discuss cost-cutting plans in a bid to stave off further financial trauma.

At the club’s recent agm, Wallace warned Rangers can’t continue to haemorrhage cash after burning through almost £22million of IPO money in 12 months.

And while McCoist is braced for orders to reduce his first-team wage bill of £6m he doesn’t believe it will make the club vulnerable to bids for players such as rising star Lewis Macleod.

McCoist said: “Until I’m told otherwise that’s not a concern. I’m looking at our squad just now and I’m the same as any other manager – I’d be looking to add bits and pieces.

“I haven’t had the conversation yet with the chief executive so until that happens, there’s no use worrying about something that might or might not happen – and hopefully won’t.”

McCoist says his focus is on bringing in players rather than worrying about losing his current crop.

But Rangers is still operating without a chief scout since Neil Murray was axed last April.

And McCoist added: “We have players lined up. We wouldn’t be doing our job otherwise.

“If we get the green light to go, then we have possible targets. But it’s been extremely difficult because it’s a specialised job for a chief scout.”

Why wasn't Neil Murray replaced? The possibilities for that job is a list longer than I could think of.

Cost cutting?.

Why doesn't Ally use the likes of Mols, Amaruso, Gough, Laudrup etc: to help him out with a bit of scouting?

I think we have quite a clear idea of what is going on. I also think if we had someone like Brian Laudrup doing some scouting for us, we would be hearing all about it.

I don't see the point in us saying anything to the press about our players unless it is to say none are for sale, which isn't something I can ever recall us saying, but the tims seem to have said it a lot.

Probably right about cost cutting but to not have a lead scout is shocking, why not move the next scout in line up a place (whoever that was) or did we only have Neil Murray?

Laudrup was given the post of club ambassador and should have been offered scouting with that even if it was only in Denmark while doing his commentating.

Its one thing saying bring in Gough and Mols etc to scout (and I have for sure said they should be involved) but the other thing is them agreeing to it, but I don't doubt for 1 second a couple of those greats would agree to dong some role in their country of residence.
