der Berliner 3,813
You know, some had to do it! Barrie McKay might be off to Morton for ONE months. EXCLUSIVE Morton make double signing Published: 27 Dec 2013 12:00 MORTON yesterday completed the signings of a Rangers starlet and a former Ibrox defender, the Tele understands. MORTON yesterday completed the signings of Rangers starlet Barrie McKay and former Ibrox defender Darren Cole, the Tele understands. Attacking midfielder McKay made an impact with the Glasgow outfit last term, making 41 first-team appearances as they lifted the Third Division championship. His displays wide on the right or off a main striker saw him receive international recognition at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 level with Scotland. The 18-year-old, who penned a five-year contract with Ally McCoist’s men in September 2012, has seen less action this term and is believed to have agreed an initial one-month loan with Ton. Free agent Cole, meanwhile, is thought to have penned a contract which will tie him to the Cappielow club until the end of the current campaign. The versatile defender came through the youth ranks at Murray Park and made five first-team appearances in his three years as a full-time professional with the club. Cole, who made his Rangers debut in a Champions League clash with Bursaspor of Turkey in 2010, also had a spell on loan with Partick Thistle. In his four months with the Jags, Cole made six appearances, one of which came in a 0-0 draw with Morton at Firhill in February 2012. The 21-year-old featured at centre-half — he is also comfortable at right-back — and was one of Thistle’s best performers as the sides shared the spoils. Cole counts current Ton striker Archie Campbell as a close friend from their time together at Ibrox, and it is understood that he was keen to find a club after his release from Rangers back in August. Super Cooper 0
Whilst we persist with anti-football, a team of cloggers and 4 centre midfielders across the middle. Incredible stuff. Best of luck to him.
Gribz 919
I saw quite a few games last season but not this year, but McKay was one of the positive stand outs last season and I thought the one with most potential. For all of a sudden to read he is available on loan is a bit of a shock. Maybe if he was 35 and nearing the end of his career he'd be on a bumper package and playing every week. Sounds like this one could go a bit similar to the Hemmings situation, a promising youngster who did well out on loan but never got much of a chance.
amms 0
Sheils managed him at Kilmarnock before he joined us so it makes sense he'd join up with him again, they clearly know each other. If we sell or release a few in January then McKay returning to the squad having played four or five matches in a row is beneficial. A months loan is about getting game time and finding match fitness, Morton are struggling badly this season so it could benefit both clubs and the player if he returns to us sharper.

der Berliner 3,813
A future partner for Clark in a three-man-attack maybe? Rangers boss Ally McCoist eyes swoop for Livingston striker Mark McNulty if he is handed cash to spend in transfer window28 Dec 2013 00:02 THE Ibrox gaffer can free up funds by shifting on fringe players next month and that could hold the key to triggering the release clause in the 21-year-old's contract RANGERS will consider a swoop for Livingston striker Marc McNulty in January – if gaffer Ally McCoist is handed cash to spend in the transfer window. The Ibrox boss is keen to strengthen his squad as they home in on the League One title and promotion to the Championship. McCoist is a long-time admirer of McNulty, who has scored 39 goals in 72 starts for the Lions in that division, and believes the frontman is capable of leading Gers’ charge back to Scotland’s top flight. The 21-year-old had agreed a £150,000 switch to Derby 12 months ago after netting for the Rams as a trialist – but the deal collapsed when Livi demanded a bigger fee. However, Record Sport understands McNulty has a release clause in his contract which McCoist is ready to meet if he’s given funds by new CEO Graham Wallace. Wallace warned the Rangers manager at this month’s agm his playing staff budget could be cut going into the New Year. However, McCoist hopes if he can shift some of the club’s fringe players, such as Emilson Cribari and Dean Shiels, in January – money could become available for McNulty. He’s on a list of potential targets as McCoist tries to plan ahead for the last leg of Gers’ journey to the top flight next season. And, despite having two years left on his Livingston contract, it’s understood McNulty is aware of McCoist’s interest and would be keen on a move to Ibrox. He hit a double in Livi’s last match against Queen of the South to take his tally for the season to 13, while Rangers toiled in a 1-1 home draw with Stranraer on Boxing Day. McCoist, meanwhile, has allowed winger Barrie McKay to go on a month’s loan to Morton. The 18-year-old has rarely featured at Ibrox this season and has been snapped up by new boss Kenny Shiels. Super Cooper 0
Does it matter?,is he a good player? Normally no but if you knew this lads background then you may think differently. He's alright but he would be wasted here in any case. Derby were interested in him, that's a good sign i guess. They have a cracking scouting team.
