Super_Ally 0
They havent lost an spl game all season and were close to a records point total last year. I dont want to talk them up but lets just say we are a long long way off them just now. We need huge investment in the playing squad. We probably at most have 4 or 5 players of the required quality. Was their total not fairl crap. Especially so when you factor in that 12 points more than normal were a lot easier up for grabs.
ian1964 10,723
Ally McCoist in dark over cuts The Ibrox manager said he was in the dark as to whether his squad would be severely cut in January following last weeks’ AGM where chief executive Graham Wallace warned the club was living outwith its means and that costs would have to be cut. (Mail) • Nottingham Forest are lining up a bid for Rangers defender Lee Wallace believed to be in the region of £1m. (Sun) • McCoist says he has no regrets over gifting his vote in last week’s AGM to an East Kilbride suppporters’ club. The Ibrox manager says he felt he was in a “no win” situation with a sizeable number of supporters against the current board. He says he is unaware of how the supporter group voted and says that he wanted to keep the board’s reaction to his decision to himself. (Scotsman) • The Rangers manager has also urged the current board to accept an offer of investment from former director Dave King http://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/spfl/rumour-mill-joe-ledley-champions-league-lee-wallace-1-3244000

the gunslinger 3,366
if we sell wallace we simply move another player away from where we need to be. we go from needing to spend 20 million to needing to spend 22.
der Berliner 3,744
actually ally you are spot on it was a very poor 79 pts. regardless we are at least 20 million of player investment short of them. They sneaked past Hibs 1-0 at home recently, and put Aberdeen to the ... dagger at home 3-1, scoring 2 goals in injury time. I'm not speaking about a points total and record of last season, I speak of them in their current state. For that and what the future hold is with what we will have to deal with. BTW, are you talking about spending 20m to compete with them in the transfer market, or looking to add quality via freebies, as we did in the summer?

SteveC 150
They would not be in the same state as they are now (which is still way ahead of us, poor though they are) They would invest if we were our very presence would motivate them to improve their team and the players they keep to try harder. The other thing is the 20 million might be wasted. Many of those bought have not been a success - 20 million isn't that much to gamble with, for wages alone on 4 year contracts, far less buying fees - a couple of Cribari and Sandazas and you've blown the lot
ian1964 10,723
If we stopped the gravy train to the SPIVS off the park we wouldn't need to be discussing player cuts!
Doc 280
If we stopped the gravy train to the SPIVS off the park we wouldn't need to be discussing player cuts! That would help a fair bit but we still need to trim the playing costs as well. There's a few in current squad that might considered footballing spivs given their underachievements so far. It's not about having lots of players. It's about having enough of the right players who can get us back to SPL without leaving us crippled for years when we get there.

There is many people that could of taken a wage cut to help us over the last 18months.
