Ser Barristan Selmy 222
There's been very litle speculation and the fact that the club have issued a statement is very telling. Read the above as "Please come and get Lee Wallace as we need the the cash to help plug the gap until sseason ticket cash comes in," Classic Rangers PR as far back as I can remember. Try to sell the player by making publicity out of nothing. Reminds me of when Bain was telling the media what Daniel Cousin's minimum fee release clause was.
der Berliner 3,860
Anyone with a football brain will see how good a player Wallace is. We joked about that on here only last weekend. If a reporter puts such a question to him, a response as above is the logical thing. I find it rather interesting that our own media department steals this story from under the noses of the journos. As for the above negative slant on it, we all would be naiive to think that our price assets are not for sale. Sure they are. A statement as given will tell any would-be buyer that we won't do it on the cheap though. There are various things attached to any transfer, not just people willing to buy and people willing to sell. You'd hope that Wallace stays put no matter who comes calling.
ian1964 10,771
I honestly don't think Wallace would want to move,he could have done that when all the other deserters jumped ship,my only concern is with the SPIVS that control our club would do their very best to sell him, after all it's money they are only interested in.

Gribz 926
Other than Wallace there isn't too many players who would attract a decent fee therefore selling players now and trying to replace them would set us back a year.
TheWee BlueDevil 0
I'll only be concerned if he's sold on the cheap Hildy. That's a huge concern. The rest of the footballing world can see how badly our club is run and how financially inept the board is just as well as we can . There is no way any other club will offer a price to match his true worth.

We've just appointed two astute business-people in Somers and Wallace. We give the so-called SPIVS a hard time and say they are here for the money alone. Now, based on that logic, what would they gain if they force-sell Wallace "on the cheap"? He's contracted till 2017 (!), we don't need to sell, Scottish international. Some doom-mongerers aside, we are not in dire straits money-wise at the moment. That all does not point to "cheap". Obviously, everyone will point at our current league position. So what? Does that make him any less the footballer he is?

Does that make him any less the footballer he is? My point obviously was that we may have to sell due to financial problems whereby the club needs to make up a shortfall. I'm pretty sure you know that's what I meant but for whatever reason you have chosen to nitpick. Only you know why you did that..

Nothing to do with doom-mongers: the rocks of going into debt are ever close. tens of millions down to 1 million, money due to run out before the end of the season. Therefore the only transfer window before that happens is this coming one.
Waltersgotstyle 307
I think Lee is very much a "home bird" - he has a young child, runs his local football team and seems settled in Scotland.
