craig 5,199
The Fellaini move was desperation on his part, I think Fergie left at the right time. He saw they were done and needed a massive overhaul 27 million for Fellaini or 40 million for Ozil..... Moyes stayed within his comfort zone instead of acting as Man U manager. Man U are a far bigger club than taking on players like Fellaini - I know there is a sense that managers will go with who they know, but Fellaini was neither the quality nor the TYPE of player they needed. They have pressing concerns all over the pitch right now. CB - Ferdinand is done. Vidic will leave in summer if not this month. Smalling, Jones & Evans arent of the quality they need LB - Evra is getting past it. No proper replacement. CM - where do you start here.... he bought Fellaini but Carrick is good enough in the holding role. They needed a replacement for a young Scholes - a creative midfielder who will score you 10-15 goals a season. RM - Valencia nor Nani are the answer LM - Not convince Young is the answer - so they will need to rely on Januzai, who has great potential, but will he lack consistency. An interesting stat.... It took SIXTEEN Premier League games this season before a Man U midfielder scored OR assisted a goal. That is a simply incredible stat for a team like Man U. At the very least they need : CB CB LB RM CM CM At the VERY LEAST. They are a club who will have to spend big or they will head into decline quickly, if they havent already started

Ser Barristan Selmy 222
Man Utd have a pretty dire team and their squad is much worse than the top 4. Fergie winning trophies with such a poor squad is admirable but equally the fact he's signed so many poor players in the last 10 years suggests he is overrated. Rooney and a fit RVP are the only players in the Man Utd team that would get near the Chelsea team. Januzaj is quality but Chelsea have Oscar, Mata, Hazard, Willian etc who are all superior. For the record, Moyes proved at Everton that he's a decent manager but I don't think he is a great one. He was a strange appointment really. A club like Man Utd should be appointing a manager with a proven pedigree of competing for trophies and Champions League experience.

He proved at Everton that he's a quality player. The Man Utd side is terrible. Reminds me of Walter leaving our squad a mess before DA came in. Like our situation, Man Utd need to splash the cash. They produce zilch decent youth players so they need to go out and buy a tonne of top players.

That is an artificial table though Gav. Do you honestly think that Atkinson or Ferguson inherited nearly as good a team as Moyes did. Ageing or not, the team Fergie inherited wasnt anywhere near the top of English football and he had to build them into that. Moyes inherited the champions who should, at the very least, be close to challenging.

Gribz 829
I keep hearing pundits saying its an ageing team but its anything like an old squad. Only Ferdinand and Giggs are nearing the end of their careers. Evra, Carrick and Vidic are wrong side of 30 but could easily do 2 years at the top level. De Gea, Rafael, Jones, Smalling, Evans, Cleverley, Juanazai and Zaha are all young. The players like Rooney, Van Persie, Hernandez, Young, Nani, Valencia, Fletcher, Felliani and Kagawa should all be at their peak. Its all about the lack of quality. Throw Mata and Modric into that squad and all of a sudden it would look very different.
Guest Devlin
Moyes is a tool, it's funny while it lasts but he'll get the team back on top within 5 years.
