he inherited an ageing squad and players like Cleverly have failed to deliver. There is huge pressure in the UK's biggest footballing job and he does need to sign several players during the January window to ensure a CL place.

Fully agree he inherited a group that isn't good enough but not sure about ageing. 1 or 2 are getting on but Smalling, Jones, Rafael, De Gea, Cleverly, Kagawa, Januzai, Zaha, Anderson, Hernandez, Welbeck, Rooney all still good ages.

Its more that the players aren't good enough. Cleverly, Young, Anderson, Valencia and Nani just haven't performed. Fellaini hasn't either but its early for him.

The defence keeps being chopped and changed. Rio and Vidic come in and out while Jones plays in 3 different positions.

Zaha hasn't been given a chance and Kagawa is played well out of position.

Yes agree Gribz that their are a large number of younger players around, however in key areas, central defence- Ferdinand and Vidic are getting on and have shown their lack of pace is a frailty this season.

Carrick is on the slide, so they lack someone to hold the midfield and play the ball out from the defensive midfield position, there is also a lack of pace in the midfield and defence, generally.

maybe 3 decent signings in January will give them a CL chance, however all of the top teams in the EPL will lose more games than the norm this season so nothing is near to finishing yet.

Putting Fellaini in a more advanced role and bringing in a world class holding player would be a start but the problems extend to the whole squad to be honest.

I agree, id be playing a bit ugly just to get points and that means lumping Fellaini upfront with Hernandez yesterday. RVP wasn't fit at all.

They are missing quality but they are also really missing a leader and someone with fight, Fletcher will give them that if he gets himself well enough.

How Cleverly is a premier league player is baffling, how he gets in the England squad is scary! What do people see in him? Same as Welbeck, shouldn't be near either team.

Man Utds best XI at the moment is:

_________________________De Gea_______________________

Rafael________Vidic_____________Evans__________Evra

______________________Carrick_________________________

____Januzai___________Kagawa_______________Giggs

________________Rooney_____Van Persie____________

Fletcher would walk into that team if fit. Giggs would depart, Januzai switch to left and Fletch on the right. But it is still a team lacking and no where near the top 4.

Young, Nani, Valencia, Anderson, Cleverly, Fellaini all struggling. Zaha hasnt had a chance and only proved himself in the Championship.

Jones is a long term partner for Evans, Rio is finished and Giggs cant play every week.

In the last month:

Man Utd 0-1 Newcastle

Man Utd 0-1 Everton

Man Utd 1-2 Tottenham

Man Utd 1-2 Swansea

Moyes is so far out of his depth its unreal, even Everton are a far better side this season.

Remember they almost sacked Fergie in the beginning for bad results.

Fergie took over a team that hadn't won the league for 26 years and needed time. Moyes has taken over the champions.

I think Moyes can still turn things around, Sir Alex got out at the right time, they have been woefully short of midfielders for quite a while now, so bad that Sir Alex had to go to Paul Scholes and ask him to come out of retirement to help out, Evra has lost a yard in pace still great going forward but struggles to get back, in central defence Ferdinand is done and Vidic's best days are behind him.

If Rooney and Van Persie comeback from injury soon he can turn things around, any team losing those two would struggle badly.

They need more than 2 top class players. Their midfield is all quantity and no quality. 14 midfielders in their first team and how many of them are top class? TBH, Moyes probably deserves his jotters just for allowing his club to spend almost 30 million on Fellaini. He did Everton a big favour with that one because I can't see another club having been willing to spend as much on that player.

The clock is well and truly ticking for Moyes because we're only a few games away from the half way point in the season and the turn of the year, but Man Utd are nowhere near contending for the title. 12 points behind Arsenal after 14 games is a big big gap, especially considering they took 3 points off of Arsenal at Old Trafford last month. 20 points dropped from 42 compared to Arsenal's 8 points dropped from 42 is a very substantial difference.

The average time in the job for a manager in England's top 4 leagues these days is just over a season and a half, but at this rate Moyes will be lucky to see out the season. Between 25 November and 2 December (so just 8 days) there were seven managers sacked in England's top 4 leagues and if Man Utd don't start racking up a run of consecutive wins, Moyes will be looking for work much sooner than he'd like.

With Newcastle at Old Trafford at the weekend followed by away games against Villa & Stoke before Xmas, it's squeaky bum time for Moyes because he really needs 3 wins and all 9 points from those games or he could be out on his arse.

The Fellaini move was desperation on his part, I think Fergie left at the right time. He saw they were done and needed a massive overhaul
