We had been advised yesterday that it was likely to go ahead and Rangers had forwarded tickets to us for sale. However following further international calls today for Rangers players the SPFL have advised us that the game will now be postponed and re-arranged for in all probability a midweek slot in December. Tuesday or Wednesday December 3rd/4th the most likely dates. It has to be emphasised that Forfar Athletic have no complaint with the Ibrox club on this issue, as they have attempted as best they could to feed us up to the minute information as it came to hand. Similarly Forfar Athletic have attempted to keep supporters fully informed over the past week as the scenario developed. ‘Loons’ officials realise that this news will come as a disappointment to supporters, some of whom were looking to make a weekend trip to Glasgow taking in the Friday night Scotland fixture as a bonus.
Guest DonegalBear
I think this is a disgrace. We have three players away from a massive squad.
johnnyk 158
Pretty disappointing that we have to cancel another Saturday game, we're only playing Forfar, surely we have a good enough squad to beat them without a few players missing!! The crowd will be half the size!!
der Berliner 3,743
Honestly, I can understand anyone who thinks that this is rubbish. Not least when you look at our squad full of capable professionals. At best, this is a technical thing ... so if we have half the squad down injured and/or suspended in months to come, we can point back at our 3-players-on-international-duty postponement now.
der Berliner 3,743
Forfar Match Postponed RANGERS' league fixture against Forfar at Ibrox on Saturday 16 November will be postponed due to international call ups. Arnold Peralta has been selected for the Honduras squad to play Brazil, Lee Wallace is included in the Scotland squad for the double-header against the USA and Norway on Friday 15 and Tuesday 19 November and Fraser Aird is away with Scotland under-19s. Lewis Macleod will also feature for Scotland’s under-21 side on Thursday 14 November so the Club has requested a postponement under SPFL rules. The Club appreciates supporters may be unhappy with the decision but it was taken in good faith by the football department. We hope to reschedule the game for Tuesday 3 December or Wednesday 4 December but this will only be confirmed once the date for our Scottish Cup tie against Falkirk is confirmed - which is scheduled for the weekend of the 30th November. Calgacus 8
I hate the way good Saturdays are wasted for meaningless internationals.
