That will be the Jenkinson who was at fault for Chelseas first goal. This was Arsenals first test against title contender and they looked well weaker, how many times can it be said about their defence and keeper isn't strong enough and will let them down.

4 of the 5 that started AG the back are back-ups though - Fabianski, Monreal, Vermaelen and Jenkinson. They would very unlikely be injured at the same time.

They also badly missed Ozil and Giroud.

That said, they do lack depth in the squad for sure.

None of Arsenals defenders would get into Man City or Chelseas team and that's the point. Vermaelen has went backwards in the last 2 years. Mertesacker is good but lacks pace.

They are missing a lot through injury, if Flamini, Poldolski, Walcott, Ox-Chamberlain and Diaby was available then it may have been different last night.

Hard to judge them on sat night due to so many first choice players missing out. But ever since arsenal stopped winning trophies they have seemed to have a mental fragility and an inability to win the bg games when it really matters.

Maybe their excellent early run this year will give them greater self confidence. Winning after Arteta was sent off last weekend looked like they may have developed greater confidence and mental toughness. Hopefully a largely reserve team loss in a minor competition won't affect them.

we all hear about the ones that make it but all clubs with these youth development programs should be responsible for getting the boys a job or a trade for when the dreaded day comes when they are told sorry son we are letting you go .

This was my point :D - mostly a reserve team - Chelsea had reserves too in fairness but their squad depth is superior.
