BEARGER 1,830
How many truly World Class players have played for the club? Jim Baxter for one. Any others?
Frankie 8,562
How many truly World Class players have played for the club?Jim Baxter for one. Any others? Can only speak for the era in which I've been old enough to appreciate players but I'd say guys like van Bronckhorst, Laudrup and De Boer could all be considered world class. You can then add players like Butcher, Gough, McCoist and Goram who I think were truly terrific players who should have played at 'higher' levels relatively speaking.

26th of foot 6,082
How many truly World Class players have played for the club?Jim Baxter for one. Any others? During my childhood, we worshipped Baxter. It was more a memory of the player which was not reinforced when he returned to the club in 1969. My grandfathers' generation loved Baxter too, but I remember most insisted their childhood hero, Neilly Gibson was a better player.

I'd add Gascoigne to that list mate. My old man says Sandy Jardine was world class.
Frankie 8,562
Yeah, Gazza was certainly world class. Arguably the biggest scale signing ever to be seen in Scottish Football.
Frankie 8,562
Possibly a slight twist on the original question (sorry...) How many have gone won World Class honours ie World cup medals, Champions league winners etc??? Ah, the scientific route... I think Gio is our most decorated player in that respect even if Rino and Caniggia both won the World Cup
True_Ger_1872 2
Jerome Rothen was part of Champions League final Monaco side...... And so was Big Dado Prso!! Basile Boli - he scored the only goal against Milan in the 92/93 Champions League Final!
JTP 0
Ruud Gullit saying Davie Cooper was one of the best players he'd ever seen tells you he is world class for a start. Gazza Laudrup Goram McCoist IMO were all world class.
