Little gets international call

Recommended Posts

Andy Little has been rewarded for his run of goals with a call-up to the Northern Ireland squad.

The Rangers striker, who scored in five successive games ahead of today's 2-0 Scottish League One defeat of Ayr, comes in following the withdrawal of Josh Magennis.

Magennis has pulled out of the last two fixtures of their unsuccessful World Cup qualifying campaign because of a knee injury.

The Aberdeen striker came on as a substitute for the closing 18 minutes of yesterday's Scottish Premiership defeat at Ross County, but will not link up with Michael O'Neill's squad for the forthcoming matches against Azerbaijan and Israel.

Where is the star Lafferty these days? Another who is now unheard of after his Ibrox departure.

In Italy, forget the team name, that Gattuso has been sacked from,Gattuso took him there from Sion

IMHO, for all his important goals (alongside Jelavic and Naismith, of course), Lafferty was just about better than average and we paid way too much for his age and (in-)experience. The way he and some others jumped ship at the first opportunity tells its own story too ...

I thought Lafferty was a bit like Lovenkrands - showed flashes of great potential but never quite performed on anywhere near a consistent level and usually a passenger. Both came across as too big for their boots and neither had any adaptability in their game. They both didn't seem to be able to play striker OR winger when a decent forward should be able to do both - like Laudrup.

Unfair on Lovenkrands IMO. Lovenkrands did FAR more for Rangers than Lafferty could dream off. Ok, PL had a few off games at times but he was a big time player and performed a lot against Celtic and in Europe. He was never a problem off the park either.

Lafferty never showed flashes of great potential, he was just so poor most of the time than when he played half decent it made him look better.
