Capital One Cup: Man Utd vs Liverpool

Recommended Posts

I know this cup isn't taken very seriously at times by the top clubs, but there should be a sense of need from both teams who won't want to suffer a 2nd consecutive defeat after their respective losses at the weekend.

Liverpool have already beaten the Old Trafford outfit in the league earlier this month and will be looking to complete a nice double, and of course David Moyes will be desperate to avoid another set-back.

Moyes is once again expected to be without influential striker Robin van Persie at Old Trafford tonight.

The Dutchman is still out with a groin injury while defenders Rafael and Phil Jones are also doubtful.

Nani and Wilfried Zaha could feature, while striker Javier Hernandez could make his first start of the season.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has to decide whether to introduce Luis Suarez back into his team tonight.

The Uruguayan striker has served his 10-match suspension for biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic, and is available for selection.

Daniel Agger will have his rib injury assessed prior to kick-off, but Glen Johnson (ankle), Philippe Coutinho (shoulder) and Joe Allen (hamstring) are all unlikely to play.
