der Berliner 3,798
or the previous 7 games depending on how you choose to phrase it. dropped on the grounds of semantics. good old ally. How many competitive games has Mitchell played for us this season?
chilledbear 16
It's a bit like giving Naismith and Cole a new contract and then letting them go. Do the Management really think Mitchell will make the first team after going to Annan? There seems to be a very lackadaisical way of dealing with money and youngsters
the gunslinger 3,366
How many competitive games has Mitchell played for us this season? that's the crux of naismiths point isn't it. less than his end of season form deserved. again i say naismith is right about that.
chilledbear 16
I don't think in the long run he is good enough, my point is they should say now, for everybodys sake Same with all the youngsters.
the gunslinger 3,366
perhaps they don't agree chilledbear.
chilledbear 16
perhaps they don't agree chilledbear. Like Cole and Naismith, just don't think they are very good at it, or too soft hearted.
the gunslinger 3,366
i think their planning is very poor at very least. i also think they have some faith in mitchel and more in gallacher. both have shown why recently imho. they have played well for us recently.
chilledbear 16
I agree about Gallacher.

Rose tinted memories there, surely. Mitchell wasn't the worst but he was no Gary Stevens, that's for sure, and was making quite a few mistakes at 4th division level. He's miles away from being ready for the first team even at 3rd level imo and this move is a great chance to get game time out the spotlight, improve decision making (his biggest weakness atm) and come back the better for it. Naismith apparently has as much brain as ability.

I would assume Ally sees more of Mitchell, Foster and Peralta than we do, or Naismith did. Again, what he did 4 months ago is one thing, how he shapes up now another. And, on a sidenote, did anyone of us checked whether Mitchell was actually injured / fully fit during the start of this season? Gallacher is, much like McGregor, reared to be a future Rangers goalie. He needs games to be able to break Bell's cast-in-stone (for the time being) stranglehold on the No. 1 shirt. He won't get that at Murray Park or our bench. So he needs to sharpen his skills and stay fit. Mitchell, as has been said above, has not played for us competitively for the best part of 4 months. Others have and will be picked ahead of him right now (!). What happens in 3 months time remains to be seen.
