amms 0
Sky TV were showing the flag at Sheffield on the night in a positive light I believe. The family were alerted to it and it took off from there. When they asked for the flag I'm sure it was as a momento from what they took to be a lovely gesture, and that they would cherish it privately along with all of their other memories of the boy. I don't think they would even have envisaged that it would lead to a day at Ibrox with the flag making it's way round again. They appeared happy to do so. Yes, that makes sense, before your earlier post it didn't really make sense to me and nothing STB was posting was making it any clearer. The part you highlighted was in reply to STB who seemed bewildered why I questioned how this had come about.
simplythebest 0
Fair enough to ask how it came about, I am surprised any Rangers fan would feel even slightly negative about it though. This kind of thing is a credit to our club and supporters.
andy steel 0
I don't think any Rangers fan feels negative about the flag, the occasion, or the gesture, but I think some get a bit itchy at the 'aren't we special' attitude which some adopt. Outside of a repulsive element of you know who's support, surely to goodness every sane person in the country can only feel sympathy for the lad's family, and are happy to do anything which could make their pain a little less.
