ian1964 10,720
Scotland manager Gordon Strachan has called up four players ahead of their World Cup qualification double header. Craig Bryson, Chris Burke, Kevin Thomson and Lee Wallace have been added to the squad after West Brom's James Morrison and Graham Dorrans withdrew. Strachan's side host Belgium on Friday before a trip to Macedonia the following Tuesday. Morrison withdrew with a groin problem while Dorrans's injury has not been disclosed. West Brom midfielder Morrison, who scored in Scotland's 3-2 defeat by England, suffered a groin injury in Sunday's defeat by Swansea. "He felt a pain in his groin just before half-time, the last couple of minutes in the first half," said Albion boss Steve Clarke. "The medical people will assess it but I would imagine he is doubtful for the Scotland trip." Scotland currently sit in fifth place in qualifying Group A with five points from seven games.

ian1964 10,720
LEE WALLACE has been called up to the Scotland squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers with Belgium and Macedonia. The Rangers left-back has been in terrific form since the season began and provided two assists for Lee McCulloch to score in the 5-0 win over East Fife at the weekend. Now the former Hearts player has been rewarded for his good showings with a summons from Gordon Strachan. Wallace – regarded by many as the best left-back in the country – has been brought into the group late with three other players including two ex-Gers stars. Kevin Thomson and Chris Burke have also been selected along with Derby County’s Craig Bryson. Graham Dorrans and James Morrison have withdrawn. Wallace is currently training with the Light Blues at Murray Park having reported there for training as normal first thing this morning. In turn, that means he is missing the national side’s session at their Mar Hall base in Bishopton ahead of Friday’s home meeting with the Belgians at Hampden. Wallace will report for duty later today though and will work with Strachan’s group for the rest of the week. After the Belgium game, he’ll fly to Skopje for the meeting with the Macedonians next Tuesday evening. Over the next few days, the 26-year-old will be hoping to add to his haul of six caps for his country so far. Wallace is yet to play under new boss Strachan and was last in a Scotland shirt for the 5-1 defeat to the USA in Jacksonville in May 2012. Arnold Peralta is also away with Honduras at present for their qualifying games against Mexico and Panama. Lewis Macleod – a scorer of three goals in as many games for Rangers - is representing Scotland’s under-21s in Holland this Thursday. Fraser Aird, Andy Murdoch, Liam Kelly and Charlie Telfer are also with the under-19 side for their home friendly with Iceland at Forthbank Stadium in Stirling tomorrow. http://www.rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/item/4959-wallace-gets-scots-call
Davie P 4
Well deserved call up, Wallace has been the best left back in Scotland for years, but his form this year has been scintillating.
andy steel 0
You'd feel he's more likely to feature against Macedonia than Belgium, but It'd be interesting to see if the Tartan Army have grown up yet should he appear at Hampden.
stewarty 2,025
Recognition for his performances this past couple of years. Starting to really appreciate Strachan as the Scotland manager, as compared against the likes of Craig "6-4-0" Levein.
