On the tragic proviso that every investor in our club has to be a fraudulent criminal, Dave King is proably slightly more scrupulous than the rest. He at least has the advantage of previous investment in the club and no criminal convictions. That immediately puts him near the top of a dodgy pack.

What fucking horrendous times we live in? Jesus fuck

Just noticed this on twitter.

Dave King settled on his takeover ambitions...

Dave King last night insisted that having to pay £45million to settle his dispute with the South African tax authorities will not halt his Rangers takeover ambitions.

Instead, the former Ibrox director said the sum agreed will actually increase his capacity to invest in the Ibrox club - and ensure he passes any SFA 'fit and proper person' test.

Speaking as Greenock bus tycoon Sandy Easdale claimed to be the new largest shareholder after concluding a deal to buy the shares of former chief executive Charles Green, King remained bullish over his long-term ambitions.

'I regard the sum agreed as being very acceptable,' he told Sportsmail after all criminal charges were dropped.

'It had no impact on my ability to invest in Rangers. In fact, the opposite is true.

'It means there are now no restrictions on me whatsoever - plus the 'fit and proper' issue disappears as the fraud allegations were finally withdrawn by the state.'

King lost £20m in a previous investment in Rangers when the club entered administration. In an interview with Sportsmail three weeks ago, however, he admitted he still sees himself playing a part in the club's future. The Glaswegian exile admits he was offered chunks of shares, but regarded the asking price as 'absurd'.

King has already hatched plans for a fresh share issue if he gains control - with the cash earmarked for players rather than the pockets of investors.
