BrahimHemdani 1
The cup winners of the countries in the coefficient rankings 1-7, qualify directly for the group stages; the cup winners of the countries in the coefficient rankings 8-16 enter at the play-off round; the cup winners of the countries in the coefficient rankings 17-19 enter at Q3; the cup winners of the countries in the coefficient rankings 20-34 enter at Q2; all others enter at Q1. Scotland were 18th in the rankings in 2012. So if Hibs had won the cup, they would have entered at Q3; as losing cup finalists they entered at Q2 and Motherwell as league runners-up entered at Q3 rather than Q2. Last season we slipped to 24th in the rankings so next season that will all go back one round: cup winners and league runners up will start in Q2; 3rd in the league will start in Q1. 54andcounting 0
So winning the cup is vital for Rangers this season...maybe...could be. So what Green said about Ally 'must' win a cup wasn't too far off the mark? Except, maybe he meant the Scottish Cup.

BrahimHemdani 1
So winning the cup is vital for Rangers this season...maybe...could be. . In a word NO. If we win the Scottish Cup this season, in order to play in Europe next year, then SFA would have to make an application some time THIS season for us to be granted a licence to play in Europe next season. That seems highly unlikely given that at this point we do not have any accounts at all and the best we can hope for is part year accounts. Theoretically, it would be possible to make an application late on this season, when we MIGHT have a full year's accounts, but that seems highly problematical. Winning the Cup next season might be more realistic, to be granted a licence to play in Europe in season 2015/16, but even that would mean we would be relying on a year or a year and a half's accounts. In my opinion, the earliest we will be back in Europe will be 2016/17, depending on winning the cup or qualifying from the SPFLP in 2015/16 and being granted the licence. Even then it is unlikely we would have 3 year's accounts, although that might not be essential and remember the accounts are not the only criteria (see #5).

RANGERRAB 3,800
I believe the latest we'll be back in Europe(providing we qualify) will be 2015/6. That will be 3 full years since we went the newco route. I believe the SFA will be forced to make an extraordinary application for us once the full story comes out about their incompetence & lack of action during whyte's ownership & nonpayment of taxes

I believe the SFA will be forced to make an extraordinary application for us once the full story comes out about their incompetence & lack of action during whyte's ownership & nonpayment of taxes That's a possible scenario but it relies on us winning the Scottish Cup next season; even if, as you suggest, the SFA can be persuaded to submit an Extraordinary Application. The earliest we can qualify from our league placing is in season 2015/16 for entry in 2016/17; again subject to an Extraordinary Application.
