Zappa 0
I'd take Miller as well but only at the expense of someone like McCulloch. Jig's got two years still to run on his contract and at 35 he wouldn't be easy or cheap to get rid of even if Ally wanted to (which he probably doesn't).
Waltersgotstyle 307
I agree I think his signings have been good Law especially. I was impressed with Peralta in the Newcastle game and Daly looks like he will win everything that is pumped into him especially in League 2. I'd take Miller as well but only at the expense of someone like McCulloch. Can't see us getting relegated mate...

I agree - as much as I like Miller as a player (hard worker who makes intelligent runs), we need to be looking to the future. We have enough experienced players around the team.

We have enough experienced players around the team. We don't have anyone with the experience of Miller, with the possible exception of Jig. KM was/is the consummate professional. He knows how to behave on and off the field, he's top quality as a player and always gives 100%. If McCoist is signing him only to score goals, that would be a mistake. But if he's signing him to be a leader/teacher/coach and back up striker, I think this would be money very well spent.

That is what we do. We have been doing it since time began.
ian1964 10,724
Hopefully Nicky Clark hits the ground running, scores goals and realises his potential, then Kenny Miller will be forgotten about

We have a leader/teacher/coach in Jig - we dont need another OAP for the role given our financial situation.
ranger_syntax 4,330
I agree with getting away with short-term-ism in general. And if we had a squad full of Kenny Millers it would be a disaster. But if we are building a squad for the future with young players then having the experienced players to get them through stages of this part of the journey is fine by me. Additionally we have to remember we are still not even half way through this ladder and are in the 3rd tier, so attracting players isn't always going to be easy especially with the embargo we've had. I actually think Ally has bought pretty well this summer to add to the promising youngers players we have - now he needs to improve them. I could make an exception to 1 older type player for the short term - purely as cover for who we have. I wouldn't be surprised if Miller comes in a player-coach role. Developing younger players is what really puts me off of signing Miller. In the case of Jon Daly I think that he will help any young strike partner to develop. If Miller is signed all I can see is that place in the team disappearing.
