bigy 0
Does anyone know if the Sky and ESPN/BT contracts just rolled over to the new league, or have these to be renegotiated? What about highlights packages? Haven't seen this written about anywhere, and don't imagine the new league will get a very good deal for another two years.

I think the fact that the SPL "merged" with the SFL allowed the contract to continue without being renegotiated. I would not be surprised if there are clauses in it regarding a quota of Rangers matches and that this was the the real driving force behind league reconstruction.
Darthter 542
I think the fact that the SPL "merged" with the SFL allowed the contract to continue without being renegotiated. I think that was one of the main reasons for keeping the SPL registered company number....it allowed the more "lucrative" (no laughing at the back) contracts to remain in place.
Frankie 8,843
I'd imagine they'll be TUPEd over for want of a better word... Anyone's guess what the terms of them are though. Not great I'd fancy and I'd also guess a few clauses have kicked in.
aweebluesoandso 290
Not even the SFL clubs got a viewing of the TV "contracts" during the supposed due diligence process. Like others allude to, the contracts probably now will encompass all 42 clubs after the takeover, however being ever suspicious the fact that they will still have the original SPL signatories on the contract makes me suspicious again, Too much power wielded by the few as ever. stewarty 2,088
I'd be astonished if Sky, ESPN and BT did not have expert contract lawyers to give them break points and other clauses that protect their respective positions.
