I've absolutely no reason to doubt him. Links galore ... Dundee United captain Jon Daly set to complete Rangers switchRANGERS are set to clinch the signature of Dundee United captain Jon Daly. Express Sport understands terms have been thrashed out with the Republic of Ireland striker and he is expected to have a medical and sign a pre-contract deal by the weekend. It is a major boost for Ibrox boss Ally McCoist as he had made the 30-year-old one of his top targets this summer. McCoist wants to bring in at least eight new faces for next season in addition to Kilmarnock goalkeeper Cammy Bell, who has already agreed a September move. MK Dons and Fleetwood Town were both interested in Daly but he has decided to remain in Scotland and is expected to sign a three-year deal. He will play his last game for United at home to Celtic on Sunday. McCoist is also close to striking a deal with Motherwell midfielder Nicky Law. General terms have been agreed with the Englishman but the move hinges on a £30,000 signing-on fee. Law confirmed he has held talks with McCoist but the 25-year-old intends to talk to English clubs, including Birmingham City and Sheffield United. Law said: “I have talked to Ally and I was very impressed with what he had to say and his plans for Rangers and their future. “He is the only manager I have spoken to so far, although it is my intention to speak to the other clubs over the next week or so. “This is obviously a huge decision for me, but Rangers are a massive club and the chance to play in front of 50,000 fans every other week is something you don’t get with half of the Barclays Premier League sides and that is a huge attraction with Rangers. “They are a massive club with a great history and the manager is absolutely determined to take them back up where they belong. “But I am not going to rush things and I plan to speak to Ally again after I have spoken to the other clubs. “Rangers are one of the biggest clubs in the world and their interest is very flattering. “If I do decide to take that option, I would want to be going there with a crack at the SPL very much in mind. “But we will see how things pan out because it is a decision I can’t afford to rush. “I am very lucky to have someone like Stuart McCall, who has been through all of this before, on hand to help and advise me. “The next move for me will be the biggest of my career and I must get it right.” McCoist has offered a deal to Queen of the South striker Nicky Clark but faces competition from Sheffield United, Tranmere Rovers and Polish outfit Jagiellonia Bialystok for the 40-goal hitman. Express Sport understands the Ibrox deal is only marginally better than the current offer he has on the table from Queen of the South. Other targets include former Gers duo Kenny Miller and Steven Smith, and Queen of the South’s ex-Ibrox keeper Lee Robinson. A deal to sign Honduran midfielder Arnold Peralta is also close to being completed. Gribz 850
Those names make a change to Robbie Fowler and Alan Smith. Its amazing that Clark is the one that fills me with most optimism yet he has played at the lowest levels. I think its purely based on what he can do at this level and he's a youngster which is not much of a risk. When we get to the SPL and he cant perform at that level then so be it.
der Berliner 3,747
Daly deal in Se Sun DUNDEE UNITED skipper Jon Daly has agreed a deal to sign for Rangers. The 30-year-old was initially targeted by Ibrox manager Ally McCoist back in January and has been in talks with the club for the past three months. MK Dons and Hibs were also keen on Daly, while United offered him a deal to stay. But SunSport understands the Ibrox move is now agreed — and that he could put pen to paper as early as next week. It’s understood he will sign a two-year deal with the option of a third season at the Light Blues. He won’t be able to officially register until the transfer embargo is lifted on September 1. Daly scored 22 times last season and has found the net on 15 occasions this year, despite spending much of the campaign playing at centre-back. Daly joined United from Hartlepool in 2007 and became a massive influence at Tannadice. Often played at centre-back in emergencies, he still sees his best position as up front and will be charged with leading the Gers’ attack in Division Two next season. The former Hartlepool striker will become the first player from the Republic of Ireland to star in Rangers’ first team for 80 years. ... and here was me thinking Alan Smith, who plays for the reserves and debuted in the Linfield game is a Republic of Ireland player too ... silly me!

der Berliner 3,747
i literally can't believe we let danny wilson sign for hearts. though its only two years and rather continently when we are back in the spl. As has been pointed out, wanting/willing players for us to sign does not equal them having the same intentions. Regarding Wilson, I am not sure how Hearts can do deals while staring at the abyss, which may solve the "problem" earlier than expected (and he gets paid till September too ).

craig 5,199
2 year deal I read on ff. Wow, surprised that he went there given the financial strife. And just as surprised we didnt try to get him (assuming we didnt... you never know, we may have tried and he may not have fancied SFL2) - we MUST have more money than Hearts......
Darthter 542
2 year deal I read on ff. rather optimistic is it not.... Given their current financial state, I would have thought 2 months would be deemed as long term...
