Angry Rangers fans demand to end 2 years of Ibrox turmoil

Recommended Posts

FED-up Rangers fans launched a fightback yesterday by demanding an end to two years of Ibrox turmoil â?? just as the latest director quit the club.

Supporters unfurled several banners declaring â??We want our Rangers backâ?, â??OUR football clubâ? and â??Not a commodity for businessmen to plunderâ? during the 4-2 league victory at East Stirling.

The plea came as commercial director Imran Ahmad left his £350,000-a-year post â?? eight days after pal Charles Green quit as chief executive.

Ahmad resigned following claims heâ??d attacked Gers boss Ally McCoist and legend Walter Smith online â?? and his links to shamed ex-owner Craig Whyte were revealed.

Rangers Supportersâ?? Trust chief Mark Dingwall gave his full backing to the protesting legions and urged the clubâ??s hierarchy to act.

He said: â??Itâ??s been a nightmare two years for fans and it canâ??t continue like this.

â??I fully understand the frustrations of those behind the banner.

â??Supporters have been let down by businessmen with no previous links to Rangers.

â??What we need is people on the board not just with talent but a passion for the club.â?

We told earlier this month how Whyte paid £137,000 into the bank account of Ahmadâ??s mum to mask his role in ex-supremo Charles Greenâ??s takeover.

Ahmadâ??s departure also comes after Green, 59, walked away after we revealed HIS ties to Whyte. Green and Ahmad have also been reported to the Serious Fraud Office by lawyers for the Worthington Group.

Yesterday fans voiced their anger by passing the banners around East Stirlingâ??s Ochilview ground â?? as McCoist and assistant Kenny McDowall looked on.

And last night Dingwall urged Smith to come to the clubâ??s rescue, saying he was the â??one man fans trust implicitlyâ?. He added: â??I donâ??t know one supporter who doesnâ??t have faith in Walter.â?

McCoist also backed the fans, saying: â??They need somebody to come in they can relate to and who can agree with their vision in taking the club forward.â?

Rangers last night said Ahmad was no longer at Ibrox â?? but refused to say why. Ahmad declined to comment at his luxury home in Hertfordshire.
