15 Live Rangers Games on Satellite TV...

Recommended Posts

Another post lifted from FF:

Can anyone verify this?

...this season and we receive a total of £10,000 or £666 66 per game. The deal negotiated by Doncaster and Lawwell with Sky/ESPN is for £1m per season for three seasons. So we aee geting 1per cent of the cash fo providing about 40per cent of the televised games.

Unsurprisingly, the vast majority of the £1m is going to the Fhilth. We are being right royally phuqued and will continue to be unless or until the corrupt regime controlling the SPL/SFA is removed.

CG is on record saying he will not sign next season's SKY deal. After reading this it's imperative he sticks to his guns. We must not subsidise the parasites and subsidy-junkies of Scottish football. Sabotage the SKY deal if necessary. Refuse to have our games televised

As I've said in response to this previously Rab, Green's comment about not signing the Sky deal was bullshit. Green might not sign it because he might not be our CEO any more, but the club will have no choice in the matter.

Who owns the rights to the televised games - the club or the authorities ? Certainly the SPL or SFA wouldnt allow us to carry archived games on the website so it seems we dont have a say in that particular matter - but that may not be the case with the SFL - I simply dont know.

Would SKY (or BT vision next season) be happy to televise live Rangers games with the knowledge that the club was vehemently opposed to them doing so ? and what do SKY make of the derisory amount we've received for the number of televised games we've had ? frankly it's insulting and probably intended to be antagonistic. CG & JT must do everything possible to sort this out. As I said earlier Rangers must not subsidise the parasites and subsidy-junkies of Scottish football.

Sky wont care too much about what we think so long as we continue to subscribe, no ?

Sky clearly wont care how much we make from the deal either, even though we ARE the only show in town.

I'm almost 100% certain that it's the league mate, so in the case of the Sky deal, it's the SPL.

IIRC the SPL cabal just had to agree a deal with the SFL for the rights to our games and the small payment from SPL > SFL will no doubt be getting divided up between SFL clubs (at the very least between us & the other 9 in our league). We have to keep in mind that while £10k is peanuts to our own club, it's a huge amount of money to other clubs in the lower SFL leagues and besides, the SFL won't have been able to bargain much if at all on our behalf anyway.

The question is, whether this can be legally challenged, as e.g. Rangers are required to move fixtures and thus ask supporters to change travel arrangements et al accordingly ... far more often than any other team in their division. Sporting integrity springs to mind, something that can be brought up at higher levels than the SFA, with a dossier of 2008 attached to it.
