Ally Hits Back At Green

Recommended Posts

except if you read bwhat ally doesn't say - he doesn't offer Green his support: "we're in the same boat" "we want the club to move forward"

McCoist is a media Pro. If he says something or doesn't say something, it"s intended that way.

Reading between the lines, Ally doesn't trust this guy any more than Zappa and almost everyone else here.

Might be time to start smelling the coffee, STB.

I was at the game so no.

He was raging, well he seemed to be raging, and did say something along the lines of, I would argue that this is the worst Rangers team ever, this is probably the best Rangers team that CG has seen, how many titles has he won?. Not word for word but you get the picture.

Even if he doesn't Ally McCoist doesn't do my thinking for me, as much as I respect him as a club legend.

He has his own job to worry about.

A public disagreement between manager and Chief Ex is the last thing that should be going on.

Greens promise is to invest in the team, a bit different to promising to give Ally 10million to spend. Im dubious about Ally buying so many average players and not improving them.

Rangers boss hits back at Charles Green criticism

ALLY McCOIST last night fired back at Charles Green for criticising his team of champions and then challenged the Rangers chief to come good on his pledge of £10million of investment.

After a week when the shine was taken off the Light Blues’ Third Division title triumph by a rammy involving disgraced Craig Whyte and Green over who controls the Ibrox club, proud McCoist came out fighting on behalf of his squad and staff.

The Rangers boss chose the aftermath of an impressive 4-1 win against Queen’s Park to defend his squad against a Green claim – repeated yesterday before the game – that the side was the worst in the history of the club.

McCoist also made it clear that having made public promises of investment in all football matters, he now looks forward to the day when Green delivers on these pledges.

In effect McCoist delivered a “show me your medals” and “show me the money” double-whammy and the fans will now watch closely as Green tries to deliver on his public statement of backing for the manager.

McCoist said: “I won’t lie to you. I’m disappointed at the reflection being taken off the team over the period.

“Being told again today that it’s the worst Rangers team in history. It’s really surprising.

“In my opinion it’s not the worst Rangers team. I’m not sure how many titles Charles has won in his career but I’ve been very fortunate enough to win 14 – including as assistant manager.

“But this one was the hardest. I know what it takes to win a title. It doesn’t matter what division you’re in, it takes a special group of people and talent and hard work to win titles. We’ve got a group of boys who were assembled in the space of about six or seven days and have managed to win a title and they’re 24 points clear.

“I would have thought everyone could maybe take a wee step back and offer some congratulations to those boys because I’m certainly doing that right now.”

A David Templeton double and strikes from Fraser Aird and Kane Hemmings allowed Rangers to stretch 24 points clear of Queens in second place.

But McCoist knows the team needs to be improved and with Green having gone public to pledge assistance, the Rangers boss can’t wait to see the level of funding.

He added: “We’ve been told there’s going to be investment in the club. That’s fantastic. Investment is needed in the youth department and the scouting department. Investment is obviously needed in players.

“Charles has gone on record as saying there is £10m to spend when it’s available – and there will be money to spend.

“That’s fantastic. I’m obviously looking forward to hopefully getting the opportunity to spend that.

“I would hope, and the Rangers supporters absolutely deserve, some quality and new faces to come to the club.”

Rangers fans have had to digest claim and counter-claim all week from Whyte and Green.

Whyte claims that he helped Green take over the club and should still have a part to play in its future.

Green says he told Whyte what he wanted to hear to get control and now has no link with the disgraced former chairman. When asked if the fans could still have faith in Green, McCoist passed the answer onto his chief executive.

He said: “I think Charles is more than capable of answering those questions himself, to be honest with you.

“He’s never shirked a question and I don’t see him doing it now.”

Meanwhile, the Rangers boss confirmed Honduran star Arnold Peralta is on his radar for next season.

The Club Deportivo Vida midfielder says a deal is 90 per cent done and McCoist added: “He’s on a shortlist, certainly.

“But there are a good few on that shortlist that we’re looking to sign.”
