If Charles Green Can Call a Spade a Spade So Can We

Recommended Posts

Ignore them mate. I thought it was a good read even though Ive been Pro-CG since Day 1. I hadnt based my thoughts on CG just for taking over the club and 'saving' us like a lot of fans will assume. I was basing it on what he did last summer and his defence of the club and fighting corners against SPL / SFA and former players who walked. And I just didnt want John Brown getting his hands on the club.

Events this week have raised an alarm bell with me though. I have always had a thought in the back of my mind that he is more of a spokes person for someone though, as he doesnt come across too clever at times, yet on other occasions I thought his comments defending the club have been great. Yet since Traynor was appointed he should be the new spokes person but Green is still coming out doing interviews etc like on Talksport regularly.

One thing I totally agree on now is we need Ally on board in some capacity because he is Rangers to the core. Despite not being the most talented manager he will look after No.1 first and No.1 in this case is the club and fans.

I have no problem if Green makes a buck or 2 (or a few million) so long as it steers the club in the right direction and sets us up for the future. It would be wrong to think Green is doing this for the benefit of the club at break even costs, what business would do that?

We'll see what happens in the coming days and weeks.

Some middle ground and caution is good Gribz, just don't waver too much in your own instincts. Ultimately this is the kind of fuss Whyte wanted to kick up.

Until hard evidence is shown that Mr Green is taking the piss then I'll always be grateful to the man.

So far he's 'rescued' the club, stood up to our enemies, took us out of where our enemies placed us, fought against negative mhedia reports and is now dealing admirably with the most hated man in Rangers history.

Good article Zappa and why not let off steam if you feel like that...for me meantime he has led us on a difficult road and took us to where so far most fans are happy to be. As for Ally, well he's on borrowed time.

I agree with most of what you're saying there 54 except for the part I've quoted. Going by recent revelations from Green himself I don't think he appears to have dealt with Whyte admirably in the past. He's not doing a good job of dealing with him in the present and what concerns me most is exactly how he's really been 'dealing' with him all along.

I also don't agree with your Ally comment at the end, but I'm sure you'd know that already.

Unless Whyte's legal action really comes to anything I think they've dealt OK with him.

Clearly we disagree there, I think Green will be here for a while yet and he'll have a very big decision to make on McCoist.

The ticket office lines were already bulging by the time Ally said anything, perhaps it helped make some people's minds up but I think you're exaggerating the importance, everyone was relieved to just see us playing football again. If he has something to tell then he can but even now he's saying he and Charles are on the same wavelength, so he hardly seems as fraught with worry as the people on here, his main demands seem to be over transfer funds.

I won't be happy with McCoist in situ because I don't think he's a good enough manager, and if our on the park activity isn't the number one priority then we'd be as well giving up. Besides, it's not as if the presence of bluenoses stopped Murray and Whyte in their tracks.

Yes, absolutely, we disagree.

Some fans like yourself, simplythebest and others, want Ally out and Green to stay, but I'm of the opposite opinion to that.

It's all about opinions!

Although i'm not retracting my views on Ally's managerial ability, for the sake of some calmness and stability I may be willing to hold fire on some of those calls.

It's how I remember it, after we got our license things took off pretty well.

Oh, things were going very well long before we got the sfa go ahead. But that was when Green illegally sanctioned the use of "oldco's" dd mandates and wrongly tried to lift ST renewal money out of punters accounts for one of his "newco" accounts. Don't think it was his mum's one though. It kind of went downhill a bit after that minor faux pas was pointed out. Not sure how Green managed to breach data confidentiality to get folks bank details though, but maybe his pal Whyte gave it to him. They had been long time partners by then.

No, I was simply going by the figures I was told when I spoke to a couple of nice folk in the ticket office when renewing nearly all the ST's in our rsc.
