CELTIC great Harry Hood is suing the Scottish Premier League for £1.8million after they stopped his pub showing live matches.

SPL lawyers hit Hood, 68, with a writ in 2006 after he put in a £1500 satellite system to pick up games on Polish TV.

League chiefs said it was illegal for Saturday afternoon matches to be shown live here.

Hoodâ??s pub company Lisini gave an undertaking not to show any more games at Angels Hotel in Uddingston, Lanarkshire.

But now they claim a ruling from the European Court of Justice shows they had not acted unlawfully.

Euro judges back Portsmouth pub landlady Karen Murphy, who showed English top flight games using Greek satellite and not Sky.

The Parkhead hero â?? who had shown just three matches before the ban â?? wants £1,761,749 in damages at the Court of Session.

Yesterday, Lord Woolman rejected a request by the SPL to throw out Hoodâ??s claim and said the case should proceed.

He said: â??In my view the English Premier League case has an important bearing on the present action.

â??The material facts are virtually identical.â?

Last night an SPL spokesman said: â??The SPL continue to protect their position in this matter.â?
