Billy Davies - Did We Miss A Trick

Recommended Posts

I hardly took it into huge account at the time but it was certainly a sign of things to come.

Was a 2-0 away win over Blackpool a sign we were on the right track or was that just 'papering over the craics'

I actually hope he stays and makes more of a mess than he already has and gets the 10 mill to waste on players he will ruin. Then when It finally all comes crashing down which it will, he can have no bloody excuses that he didn't get the backing and it will be obvious he is just a crap manager.

Only downside will be we will be 10mill down and in a mess 3 years down the road from what should've been a new dawn, but then that's Rangers for you things will never change.

It's got nothing to do with what is or isn't fair. You must have missed or chose to ignorer my comments regarding their choice of tactics so I'll spell it out for you...

Fair play to them.

They're using the best choice of tactics available to them. It spoils the game as a spectator sport most of the time when either team chooses to use those tactics, but it's the result that counts. For most of the teams we've played at this level it's worked at least to the extent of keeping the scoreline respectable and at most taking a share or all of the points. For them it's only common sense.

For us it's frustrating for the players, coaching staff and fans alike.

Do you think when we nulified far better teams than us in Europe using the same tactics that it was a joy to watch?

Sometimes it was ...on the odd occassion, but most of the time it was nerve-racking for some and like watching paint dry for the rest. It was the endeavour and achievement of results that made it worthwhile. How did the teams we played those tactics against react though. Some took it on the chin, but even some of the best of them threw the dummy out.

Why? Because there's no easy solution to overcome them other than putting the ball in the back of the net. That's why.

What I have noticed with a number of our Div3 opposition is that they defend in numbers. They are organised and more often than not handle out advances. However, a major difference compared to when we have used similar tactics, is that some of these teams are able to break out of defense fairly quickly and push men forward with pace - this then puts us right on the back foot & leaves us vulnerable. When we break out of defense, it tends to be at a more leisurely pace, giving the opposition time to get men back....

Was talking to a mate at the weekend and he mentioned why are they just as fit if not fitter than us, somebody else piped up we are playing at a walking pace they don't need to be filter than us if we play at that pace.

We should give Ally up to the end of the year, he'll have had a proper pre-season signed new players and have a far better idea on how to play these lower league teams, can't imagine the 2nd bottom tier of teams being any better than the bottom tier.

If we are still watching the same dross we're watching at the moment then surely he has to go.

They will just tell you we never gave him a proper Transfer window, and he didn't get a fair crack of the whip.
