Jon Daly Pre-Contract

Recommended Posts

I can't say I'm impressed.

I'm sure Ally feels that we need to increase the squad size, but we should be aiming for quality, not quantity.

Daly has scored a lot of goals for Dundee Utd and he can play as a central defender too, so maybe the idea is to kill two birds with one stone by bringing him in as both forward and defensive cover.

Anyway, while the story of our approach to the player is no doubt true, it doesn't mean he'll sign.....

Only on Gersnet ...

A rumour, link to an SPL player for the Third tier of Scottish football, on a free ... and the first comments are negative. I wonder what sort of players people realistically expect.

Jon Daly (just turned 30) 158 games and 57 goals for Dundee United (striker / defender), possible replacement/substitute for the powerful striker role of McCulloch/Kyle (if fit)?

(NB: No, I'm not jumping up and down in joy at this rumour.)

Rangers are to speak to Dundee United striker Jon Daly about a pre-contract agreement for next season.

Daly, who is from the Republic of Ireland, is the Tannadice captain but is out of contract in the summer.

United have confirmed Rangers have written to them to confirm their intention to speak to the 30-year-old skipper about a pre-contract deal.

Daly's agent, Eamonn Collins, will talk to Rangers about the player, who also has the option of a move abroad.

The striker, who can also operate as a centre-half, joined United from Hartlepool in June 2007 and has made 158 appearances for the club, scoring 57 goals.

He has represented the Republic of Ireland at Under-21 level but has yet to be awarded a full cap.
