the gunslinger 3,366
Does being pro or anti Green mean people can't look at things objectively? I would hope not. for all i might be considered anti green i can see hes done a good job on the ipo for example. though its the legacy of that ipo that really interests me. which was why i posted the spiers questions. look at hugh adam his legacy is the stadium it's self. even d murrys legacy will be nine in a row and murray park. green has cash to spend. his legacy can be edminson house, a wembly way and the big one a museum.

I always believed Willie Waddell was the driving force behind the new Stadium. A lot of the money came from the Rangers Pools which Hugh Adams ran but I think it was Waddell and not Adam that spearheaded the new stadium. Waddell vowed that there would never be the chance of another disaster happening.

forlanssister 3,114
Buster, fishpakora, sir duncan ferguson etc? You missed someone out...... FF is most definitely firmly in the pro Green camp just as it and RM were both vehemently pro Whyte.

Crimson Dynamo 128
Have we ever applied for one? I don't know to be honest. But if I were in charge at Rangers I'd certainly be looking at that sort of thing. Imagine if you came off the train at Glasgow Central and 1 of the first things you see is a billboard advertising Rangers. I'm sure it would generate interest in the club....

I totally agree with you a billboard at strategical points as Stations,Airports motorways, etc, would be good I am just not sure that Glasgow council or authorities as you say have much to do with that. I would have thought that these were in the hands of private advertising firms. I think if we had applied for one we would got it to be honest.

The big companies are CBS Outdoor, JC Deceuax, Primesight & ClearChannel. All have sites across Glasgow. To get a good spectrum one would need to use at least two of the companies I imagine. Mostly the council won't get a say I don't believe but there are some things which cause trouble - the God/Athiest ones in London on the buses for example. There are some really good billboards, plus you also have subways (CBS have London Underground where they have digital screens at escalators etc) Depends on how much money you are willing to pay I suppose.

Another thing that would have to be taken into account in Glasgow of course would that they would have to be in places where they couldn't be vandalised. I doubt an easy to get at Rangers billboard wouldn't last more than 1 night. Sad but true.

You'd be surprised, Celtic and Nike use several throughout the city, London Road and Balmore Road spring to mind. It's the advertising contractor's problem anyway, they'll request extra sheets are printed in case of damage and are contractually obliged to ensure the 'billboards' aren't defaced or weather damaged. If they are they don't get paid. Football 'tourism' isn't properly exploited in Glasgow. Between us, them and Hampden there's a real opportunity for someone to put on an official 'football' tour with a stop at West of Scotland Cricket ground and Glasgow Green for good measure.
