IAN MURRAY played the full 90 minutes at East End Park today as Rangers defeated Dunfermline 1-0 in the SPL Reserve League.

Murray, has been missing since the start of the season after being floored by a virus, started the game at left back and was only going to play 70 minutes before leaving the action.

However, an injury to Antoine Ponroy meant that he moved to centre back for the second half and looked fairly comfortable.

Murray, who played in a bounce game last week, is now hoping that after a few reserve outings he can be back in the first team picture by Christmas.

The return of Murray was about the only highlight for coach Ian Durrant who was not pleased with his side's performance, even although they won the match.

He said: "The performance was not good enough. There were players out there who are supposed to be trying to get first team places but it didn't look like that to me.

"The fact that Ian Murray played the whole 90 was the best thing to come out of the match.

"We had a young team out but so did Dunfermline, but I felt they were the better side and passed the ball better."

Rangers won the match three minutes before half-time when Makhtar N'Diaye's shot was spilled and Derek Carcary scored with the rebound.

RANGERS: Letizi; McLachlan, Ponroy (Donald), Ure, Murray; Gilmour, Rae, N'Diaye (van den Broeck), Carcary; Ashikodi, Stanger (Little).

good to see him back in but i think he will find it hard to get back into the squad

Good to see Ian Murray making his way back from illness. Understand it was some kind of arthritic condition he's been suffering from. Hopefully he'll be nutured back to full fitness so that come the restart of the Uefa cup campaign he'll be ready for first team action. Would help with Papic being cup-tied for the competition.

Malky

btw read various press reports that Letizi could be off come the January transfer window.
