How can we be running at a loss due to the wage bill?

Recommended Posts

No we can't, but neither can we simply ignore what's happened in the past 12 months as if it didn't occur.

Of course not and for what it's worth I don't think talk of £10 million budgets is sensible. Just not for the reason you're outlining, we shouldn't have to keep watching what we say based on the creditors. The small creditors will likely be getting business out of us again having done so for years, i'm going to assume none suffered greatly due to the monies owed otherwise the media would have been all over it. Don't get me wrong, they were owed that cash fair and square and it's terrible that so much went unpaid, but one man was responsible for it and we as a club and business suffered enough for his crimes, we need to learn from the experience but we shouldn't have to feel guilt over it.

As for HMRC and ticketus, my empathy towards them is pretty much zero.

It was stated in the summer that we would run at a small loss this year why an 11 pager now

Exactly mate, he's talking about an operating loss for the first year of a start up company. He never mentioned money in the bank but don't let get in the way of a good panic and the boogie man is coming.

it took them 4 months so they could get fees of 4 million.

Exactly GS if Rangers fans want to shout to the heavens about money going out the door this should be their first port of call.

You don't think they have plenty of other work to get on with?

It's not like a builder who plays out a job because he's hardly getting any.

I do understand the thinking but it doesn't make much sense to me when those fees are the going rate.

You don't think D&P dragged their feet in the admin process?

To be fair Allan, I started the thread to talk about Green's outlandish contradictions on the subject, not start a panic about the season's operating loss. The simple facts of the matter I was actually highlighting are that Green's been battering on in the media about how wonderful our finances are and how our wage bill has been reduced to 30% of our turnover, then turns round and says oh, we're currently running at a loss and it's partly because of our wage bill. These contradictions are bloody embarrassing! He needs to stop talking shite and start making things happen with all these deals he's meant to be doing to increase the club's revenue streams.

To be fair to him on this one Zappa, he did tell us right from the off we would make an operating loss in the first year and it is in the prospectus.

The way I read it he was talking more about the non playing staff when it came to wages which hasn't changed much from before Admin and is way too much for our income at this moment, but he knows more money will come in as we rise through the leagues and these people will be needed. I actually expect us to make a slight loss next year unless he can get a good shirt and stadium deal in place, because we won't be making much more on the pitch still in the bottom league in the country.

I wonder if he asked the fans to start paying full ST price again next season to stop any operating loss we would go for it?

I'm not much of an expert in their area, it dragged on but on the face of it I'm still not really sure what else they should have done to make it quicker. Having the CVA process while the season was still ongoing would have created a bigger mess.
